This particular road can't be adopted because the posted speed limit is over 55 mph.

Perhaps something the KKK knew as it is in the guidelines to adopt.
Perhaps their motive was attention and controversy.

The far majority of the South cringes at the word and in no way wants a sign recognizing
this hate promoting group. It's bad for moral, dignity and peace in our states.

    Stop the Hate.

Looks like the KKK has contacted the ACLU ... ha!

Based on what I have read, many Americans who don't want to wait a long time to adopt locally often go overseas and adopt foreign roads....much quicker process!

while i in no way support the actions of the kkk, i find it interesting how we celebrate George Washington and Christopher Columbus. Washington who himself owned slaves, and Columbus, who while "discovered america" (bullshit) killed, and enslaved natives of this land. Yet we celebrate both of them seperatley, with days off and have fucking parades for these assholes.

Yet the kkk who are trying to adopt a fucking highway to keep it clean are being bashed.... it's mind boggling. you all act as if they wanted a KKK history month to celebrate their past...

and you fucking act as if the KKK is a positive civic organization who fucking never did anything wrong and they fucking just want to plant daises on the side of the road....

to me it fucking sounds like you're fucking supporting the fucking actions of the KKK...

    it's fucking mind boggling...

and where in my post does it say that i say that the kkk is a positive civic organization? oh yea, that's right. it doesn't. Nor did i say they ever did anything wrong.

They want to adopt part of a highway to clean it up....quick someone put an end this right now, they have no business cleaning up trash.

We also have numerous towns and cities named after each other. Washington D.C. even doubles-down. There is also a state and even a country named after them, respectively.

I don't know what to tell you. It is what it is. Consider yourself lucky if you actually get the day off on either holiday. The majority of us don't.

i don't get the day off. But kids in school do, and they are taught that columbus was a kind and gentle man who founded america. and it bothers the shit out of me.

EXACTLY. If you're going to bash an organization because they were violent and racist, bash your forefathers and historical public figures that did pretty much the same exact thing.

Funny How Liberal Democrats like to leave out the history of their party. And Furthermore its amazing how many people that vote D. don't even know this.

The KKK was the terrorist wing of the Democrat Party.

Our nation’s top historians reveal that the Democratic Party gave us the Ku Klux Klan, Black Codes, Jim Crow Laws and other repressive legislation which resulted in the multitude of murders, lynchings, mutilations, and intimidations (of thousands of black and white Republicans). On the issue of slavery: historians say the Democrats gave their lives to expand it, the Republicans gave their lives to ban it.

    The Democrats:
Democrats fought to expand slavery while Republicans fought to end it.
Democrats passed those discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws.

Democrats declared that they would rather vote for a “yellow dog” than vote for a Republican, because the Republican Party was known as the party for blacks.
Democrat President Woodrow Wilson, reintroduced segregation throughout the federal government immediately upon taking office in 1913.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s first appointment to the Supreme Court was a life member of the Ku Klux Klan, Sen. Hugo Black, Democrat of Alabama.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s choice for vice president in 1944 was Harry Truman, who had joined the Ku Klux Klan in Kansas City in 1922.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt resisted Republican efforts to pass a federal law against lynching.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt opposed integration of the armed forces.
Democrat Senators Sam Ervin, Albert Gore, Sr. and Robert Byrd were the chief opponents of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Democrats supported and backed Judge John Ferguson in the case of Plessy v Ferguson.
Democrats supported the School Board of Topeka Kansas in the case of Brown v The Board of Education of Topeka Kansas.
Democrat public safety commissioner Eugene “Bull” Connor, in Birmingham, Ala., unleashed vicious dogs and turned fire hoses on black civil rights demonstrators.
Democrats were who Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the other protesters were fighting.
Democrat Georgia Governor Lester Maddox “brandished an ax hammer to prevent blacks from patronizing his restaurant.
Democrat Governor George Wallace stood in front of the Alabama schoolhouse in 1963, declaring there would be segregation forever.
Democrat Arkansas Governor Faubus tried to prevent desegregation of Little Rock public schools.
Democrat Senator John F. Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil rights Act.
Democrat President John F. Kennedy opposed the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King.
Democrat President John F. Kennedy, had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI.
Democrat President Bill Clinton’s mentor was U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright, an Arkansas Democrat and a supporter of racial segregation.
Southern Democrats opposed desegregation and integration.

Republicans enacted civil rights laws in the 1950’s and 1960’s, over the objection of Democrats.
Republicans founded the HCBU’s and started the NAACP to counter the racist practices of the Democrats.
Republicans pushed through much of the ground-breaking civil rights legislation in Congress.
