All I want to do is get a feckin' ticket from Leeds to London on Sat 26/08 and there's so many types! Do the supplements actually give me something or what?!

For example...
GNER Weekend First A Supplement

Description One-way supplement to upgrade a Standard Class ticket to first

Does this mean I have to buy another ticket, then pay for this supplement to upgrade it to First Class?

  • British Rail ended with privatisation. What there is now in the UK is a bunch of con artists, conspiring to cause as much passenger confusion as possible, to generate as much revenue as might come their way. I'm sure the Bush administration got their ideas for bollixing, banjaxing and bewildering the fuck out of the punters, from these feckers. ;)

I'm still horribly foncussed! I've been using this website:

    http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/index.html

Then I tried looking up the other private companies but they're not very helpful!

All I want is a bleedin' train ticket!

You know what? I agree with you - it IS confusing. I went to the link to see if I could do it, and I see what you mean - all these choices come up, and if you click on what they are, there's like 6 small paragraphs describing it. I think the supplement things are where you pay extra to upgrade tickets in terms of class or options (like from Standard to First class). It looks to me like for your route on your day, the cheapest option is the GNER Standard Advance 4, which is 27 pounds and you can either leave at 11:19 or 12:05.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Think the £20 is the cheapest. Quite a few times you can travel at.

Lol British Rail, I thought I'd gone through a time warp.:)
Virgin are a pile of shit try to avoid them if possible, they put 4 carriages(sp) on a train service that goes from Scotland to the SW coast of England it takes in more large citys than any other train service in the country and they put on 4 carriages(sp), inevitably it ends up that you cant move for people standing throughout the train, people even take to filling up the toilets not with excrement just standing in there, this is how packed the service gets, all they need to do is stick a few more carriages(sp) on, but no we'll let you cram in like sardines for extortionately silly prices, and when you get to your reserved seats there will be a neurotic welsh woman who does'nt want to move and gives you a load of verbal abuse to boot.:(
Can not be arsed with life no more.
  • The National Express coach takes longer (approx 4hrs 20 mins) but it's cheaper (£7 - £13 max) more reliable and has a userfriendly website!

    Good luck :D

Maybe see you at Leeds! ;)
