Can someone please explain to me why the fuck Pearl Jam is only playing ONE show in the most populous country in Europe? 82.5 million people and Germany gets ONE FUCKING SHOW??! Whatever. Portugal has like 18 people and they get two shows. Italy gets FIVE. There should be at least one more in like Frankfurt or something. Come on throw those of us in the south of Germany a bone!

we're still hoping for more shows next year to cover northern Europe.

Yes 5 shows in Italy seems strange...but then they got to #1 there with Pearl Jam...can't be said from most other countries..

southern part of Germany = south part of United States?

Surely there are a few World Cup stadiums that will be empty in September...

Here's hoping they return to Germany and northern Europe next year.

hmmmm - ok... well please explain to me Mr biggest population in Europe why you could still get tickets for this ONE show in Germany 3 WEEKS after they went on sale!!! You may have the biggest population in nEurope but there doesnt appear to be heaps of love there for PJ!!

Yeah you guys in Germany REALLY warrant another show in Germany - you can barely sell out ONE!!!

The Italian shows all sold out in a few days!! And there were 5 of em!

UK didnt even get ONE specialised arena gig so count yourself lucky... And we have a population of over 65 million so we dont too badly on that front ourselves...we may get something in February but nothings confirmed. Im having to travel to Marseilles, Barcelona and Athens... Geez... self important, moaning German!

we do get 2 festivals dates though...and they haven't sold out either (the days PJ is on)...
Not that I'd not rather have a proper (as in cheaper and full set) arena gig...

Sadly, the first time they're doing 2 dates in France (they never played anything but Paris), it's not selling out...:(

they've been gone too long, only the die-hard remember their existence, the younger music fans have moved on.

Hey I agree it sucks they aren't really playing anything outside of a fesitval in the UK. That really sucks. And I am not afraid of traveling at all. However, traveling to Berlin (train or plane) is expensive, then the tickets are fucking ridiculously expensive this time around and I'd have to spend the night somewhere. That works out to way too much for a student to afford. If they played somewhere closer I could get there and back in one trip and be fine.

As for why the show hasn't sold out, well that's weird. But see... Berlin is way off on the east side of Germany with not a lot around it. Maybe it hasn't sold out because the majority of the German population is in the south and the west and people aren't willing to take the really expensive Deutsche Bahn to Berlin for a concert. If it was somewhere central in western Germany, like Frankfurt, then a lot of Germans could get there and back fast and cheaper.

I know - im going to Reading and I have to say im really looking forward to it... but would still really love an arena gig with a full setlist...

Marseilles and Paris not sold out?? Geez that sucks - was hoping that the Marseilles gig would be a little jewel... guess I was wrong about that one.

Still, Athens and Barca should be amazing!

Na, Frenchs suck, you should hear the crap on radio there (I should know! why do you think I chose to live here :)...and if some people from the french forum read this: I'm not talking about you ;)), so I'm not regretting being busy (ironically in France for a wedding) that weekend.

Dublin, Barca, Verona and possibly Athens should be good though.
Antwerp and Lisbon also (but it's midweek so can't do)

Yeah I was dumb and saw a price in Swiss Francs and though it was Euros. Color me lame. Anyway the Netherlands is what, 1/10th the size of Germany? And has what 16 million people? Oh yeah you guys should totally get as many shows as Germany. Oh and to London_Jam it's funny, I think it sucks that England doesn't have any normal shows this tour because I can fly from Karlsruhe to London for fucking cheap, so seeing a show there would have been a doable option too. And I have friends there and places to crash. If they announce any more shows there while I am still in Europe I am totally there.

Anyway once I realized my idiot mistake with Swiss Francs I decided I might try and go to the show in Bern, Switzerland. Here's hoping it works out.

whats the population gotta do with it??? by your rationale they should be touring China and India for the next 4 years as they have about 2.5billion people there...

Well really I will use whatever excuse I can to be annoyed that they aren't coming on tour close to me. It's called being a fan. Add to that my frustration that on the 2003 tour they did not play Portland OR Seattle. So I have not seen them on a tour since 2000. And if I miss 2006 then NINE YEARS without a Pearl Jam show? You would be a little pissed off too I think.

    boo fucking hoo!!!!

If it wasnt for the very small Astoria show they just did then I would have never seen them... 6 years ago I was on my honeymoon and before that it was 1997... so imagine my horror when the Euro tour is announced and the closest gig to me is in Ireland and I have to fly there for the one and only gig that is actually close to me... i just got on with it... at least Germany has 1 fucking show.... i have none... now shut the fuck up :)

There is a bit of a difference between Astoria (wherever that is) and Portland, Oregon. We are literally 2.5 hours from Seattle, where they live. We should get the love a lot more...

I mean merely by proximity, not some feeling that we're better. Anyway they could have played Seattle, too. I would easily drive to Seattle to see their show(s).

Now now, my comment was tongue in cheek. I know Portugal has a solid PJ fanbase. I own the 2000 Lisbon boot. I am just frustrated because I think Germany has a good fanbase too and there is one show.

They did play Hamburg and Berlin in 2000. They also played Salzburg, which is somewhere I could easily get to. Stuttgart would be kinda weird if they played here. I would say Frankfurt and Munich would be good choices. Both are huge cities and transportation hubs that loads of people could get to. The problem is not time or traveling outside of Germany. The problem is money. I am a college student. I cannot afford too much.

I'm disappointed that they won't play in Hamburg this time, too, but I take the opportunity to travel cross europe next to Berlin. I can't wait that I will taste the atmosphere of verona, vienna and athens.
Keep in mind that fans from Poland or Scandinavia will be disappointed as well, because no date are announced.
Let's keep fingers crossed that PJ will come next year back to europe/germany.

By the way, the current world cup is the biggest party ever in germany ( one month long, lots of music, football, lots of people from all over the world) ->> Unforgetable
It's maybe a small compensation for this summer/year..
