Do we really need to clap every song

Seriously, I just laugh at some shows cause it seems people want to start a clap-a-long to every song possible. I mean, EVERY song. Elderly Woman even got one...

There are times it's just the real moment...then there's those others where I'm like, "really?"

Not bitching, just think it's a little silly at times.

Wet blanket, huh? Sorry, I just feel like clapping sometimes throws things off for some songs. Hell in San Diego, 2003, the clapping threw off Ed from doing a song and he had to stop, because of it. Most songs sound great with them...but every single one?

Like I said, not bitching cause it doesn't ruin it for me. Just feels odd sometimes...

But if I can't say anything without someone posting a negative remark, then sorry for putting my thought out. Damn...

yeah, the clapping get a little old.
  • I agree, I do not like clapping during songs at any concerts for some reason, it always seems....not fun and not needed?... The only time I will clap is if it's really needed and fit for the song and the band themselves start it, otherwise it sometimes takes over the music and can go on for too long.
Our band is like an old car, and this record is our new engine.

going to gigs, i've recently stopped clapping every song. it's become as expected as the encore. if it's a song i love or if it's a truly inspired rendition of another, then i clap.

I vaguely remember an interview, with Ed I think, which basically said that Americans can't clap in rhythm but those in every other country can. I thought it was strange, but I think it's pretty much true.
