but they want as much of your money as they can get from you...and for what ? to fuel the machine of corruption that they use to lie to us and make a comfortable living for them selfs ?
I have a thought, can money buy honesty ? can it stop wars ? I may sound crazy...maybe I am, but once your money leaves your pockets it's no longer in your control, well yea you vote right ? and give money to person's we vote for and what kind of assurance do we have that the money we give is used to help us achieve the goals we expect our country to have/gain or maintain ?
we always want to leave a better tomorow for our children and generations to come but it seems we get lied to time and time again by the people we vote into office.
maybe I'm thinking unclearly and too much,I feel a nap coming on.

Seems like I've seen stories like this during every presidential campaign. Donate an obscene amount of money and you get to act like your a close friend of the POTUS. So far out of reach of most people that it always looks ridiculous, no matter who the prez is.

the whole system needs to be shaken down with this money crap. Its a circus, it affects policy, wastes time of politicians when they should be working. It really increases the voice of the wealthy in our political system, which is supposed to be a representative government.

The OWS movement was dead on with this... however, they needed to converge on Washington.

    Short answer: Campaign Finance Reform.
    ...
Limit the amount that can be raised. Same amount for every candidate. Let them choose how to spend it.
Any violation of campaign fund raising/spending... mandatory jail time.

The problem is that the people that have to enact this reform are the ones getting their pockets stuffed with money.

money should NEVER EVER have been factor determining who gets into office. whoever can pay for the most ads gets in. how bogus is that.

With all due respect, Godfather, I'd find this thread more interesting if it pointed out the fact that both parties run on obscene amounts of money. The reality is that big money is what makes the political world turn and that's not likely to change until the change really does happen. Or until the echinoderms regain control.

Which is the circular problem we have gotten ourselves into.
The Tea Party... early on... had the right idea. Incumbants get ousted.
The Tea Party derailed themselves when they became the militant wing of the Republican Party and endorsed 'Tea Party Candidates'.
