Mansfield 2 = Total Energy!!

edited July 2008 in Given To Fly (live)
If anyone was at the show, I have seen my share of PJ and ed was totally in some pretty rare form last night... as was the whole band.
To the band and to the fans... thanks for one of the best shows I have been to!

What a great show to end the tour (not counting the Beacon Theater show of course).

IMO night 1 was so much better. The crowd was crazier and louder. Night 2 had a ton of stiffs. I sat dead center 20 rows back and there was a couple sitting the whole time in front of me. For future reference, GO TO THE LAWN IF YOU ARE GOING TO SIT.

The energy last night was sick. I've never felt anything like it, at Pearl Jam or anywhere else.
    Boston Garden 5/25/06
    Lollapalooza 8/5/07
Madison Square Garden 6/24/08 and 6/25/08
    Mansfield 6/30/08

Who cares what other people do, as long as you enjoy yourself. Those people were the exception, not the rule, last night. The crowd was great and the band fed off it.

Both shows were damn good but i think you have to give it to night 2 as a better overall show. The crowd was better Eddie was more entertaining the setlist was incredible the energy was as high as i ever remember. Bee girl! Who you are! Playing past curfew...Memorable weekend in the Comcast Center.

Agree with II being better and the crowd being REALLY good. I would disagree with playing past curfew... 11:04 it ended on my watch. Not that rebellious enough to make an issue of it. MSG I they played till nearly 11:30. They started an entire encore after curfew, that was fun! But a great show last night for sure.

Not sure what show you were at, but Night II was 1000x better, much better crowd, setlist, and energy.

Also, WAYYYY less traffic last night. On Saturday I was on the Aisle and the traffic was non-stop all night and the beer gardens were overflowing. Last night it appeared almost empty. Most were there to enjoy the show, not to drink.

Of my 16 shows, Mansfield I ranked near the bottom. I was very happy to end the tour on a positive note after Monday. Great all around show!

At MSG they were able to convince the venue to allow them to play past curfew, so that wasn't really rebellious either. I wanted them to play a longer show past 11 as much as anybody (i actually made the Fuck the Curfew signs seen in the front) but it seemed like they really just couldn't do it even though they wanted to. They still put on an incredible show that didn't even feel short. I'm not disappointed at all about it. :)

OK, so if you want to sit, you need to go to the standing room section, but if you want to stand, you should go to the seating area?

If I had to guess, the reason they won't go past curfew anymore in Mansfield is pretty simple...they won't be allowed to come back. Hence Ed's comment about it "not being a money thing...it's a municipal thing."

Not saying it was a problem, just sayin its not a reason for ranking II over I.

BTW, if they absolutely have to end at 11 thats fine. But I wish Ed would not make that little speech of "oh we're going to keep playing until they kick us out" if they dont plan on doing that. Just say "we have to be out of here at 11 but that just means we're going to have to make the next 2+ hours the most kick-ass of the tour" or something like that.
