New Double Album July 17th

Pretty obvious they have been moving away from being a "metal" band for a long time. I'm okay with that. I'm sure there will be some aggressive songs on Yellow and Green. I'm sure I'll miss the old sound from the early ep's and Red, but I've liked everything they've done so we'll see.

New song sounds quite "queens of the stone agey" to me

Either way I can't wait for the faucet to leak :D

It's even more awesome than Take My Bones Away. Definitely a new direction for them and it definitely rules. I can't wait for this album(s).

I have a friend who works at a music magazine, and Relapse sent him a copy about a month ago to review it... I've listened to it about 30 odd times so far... It is simply amazing... Can't wait to get my hard cover vinyl!!!
That sweet fuzz sound and the melodies are so addictive!!!

This album is amazing. Absolutely love how they embraced their more prog elements on this one. The Yellow disc in particular is owning me. 8-)

Nice to see Baroness getting some mention, very good band IMO. While I'm not crazy about the vocals in either track, musically they sound pretty tight. Torn between searching for more on Youtube or just holding out until Tuesday.

If you decide to cave, Spin and NPR are both streaming it:

Personally battling mars volta's noctorniquet for my album of the year. Time will tell. I would love to see pj take baroness, the mars volta, mastodon, high on fire, torche or somebody of this nature on the road with them!

I rather just see a high on fire, mastodon, baroness, and torche all play together.... oh i already did :D The Scion Festival in Atlanta was pretty killer

Both albums are awesome. I like Yellow a bit more at this point.

I like the song "The Line Between" a lot but i have to admit when the heavy riffs come on at the beginning i really want to hear that old school Baroness Growl come in instead of those clean vocals. It wouldn't have to be the First/Second sound it could be the growl from Blue, but whatever it works as it is too.

im liking this album. But several things stick out. Ive always heard them described as a metal band, and this is decidedly not a metal album at all. Im struck by John Dyer Baizley's voice, reminds me of Ian mackaye.

The sound of this album is bizaare though. Its catchy as hell, and great sounding, but the timber of the lead singers voice and the overall sounds on the songs almost sound like 2000's era modern rock or music you'd hear on the radio on your local alt rock station. Which is odd because this band isnt at all related to any of those bands. The way its all put together sounds extremely mainstream sounding, and thats not a dig at the band at all, im just struck by how much this could fit in between the latest alt rock mainstream stuff on the radio

Great thread, great album. Credit IntoDeep for bringing this to my attention, I would not be listening to this album in heavy rotation if not for this thread. :)

Good stuff, Yellow is better thus far than Green but both are better than anything else I have heard this summer thus far.
The last PJ show I went to was the best PJ show ever, that is until they come around again of course
