Mitt Romney’s New App Misspells America, Twitter Goes Wild


Mitt Romney's new iPhone app, With Mitt, "lets you customize photos with a variety of Mitt-inspired artistic frames." Slogans like "Believe in America," "Obama Isn't Working," and "I'm a Mom for Mitt" are just a few of the Mitt-tastic phrases that can be slapped on your iPhone photos, proudly pronouncing your support of the GOP candidate.

If only he was equally as concerned with supporting our great nation. Much to the delighted displeasure of Twitter, one particular frame option betrays Romney's secret agenda working toward bettering a place known as Amercia.

Yes, that's A-M-E-R-C-I-A.

So, this November, remember to ask yourself, "Is Mitt Romney a patriotic American leader, or an app-happy Amercian insurgent??!?

Twitter went wild Tuesday night when it was discovered that the Romney campaign had misspelled the word "America" on its new iPhone app that launched only hours earlier.
The "With Mitt" app lets users take a photo and superimpose one of 14 different phrases over the top before posting the photo directly to Facebook or Twitter or emailing it to a friend.
The friend then receives a message reading, "I'm with Mitt Romney in 2012. And here's a photo showing my support. Check it out!"
Instead, on what should have been a night for celebration for the Romney camp -- after the former Massachusetts governor clinched enough delegates to secure the Republican nomination with his Texas primary win -- the app became a platform for ridicule.
"The iPhone app is here - download it & tweet your photos using #WithMitt. Will RT some favorites tomorrow," Romney himself tweeted after clinching the nomination.
But after the "Amercia" gaffe was discovered, Twitter users took great glee in imagining what "Amercia" stood for and what policies Romney had planned for the nation, such as "Amercia-n exceptionalism."
"Whew, I hear Mitt's updating that misspelled Amercia on his app. He's just going with Untied States now," read one tweet.

"Does Mitt Romney believe that Obama was born in Keyna," another asked.
Another tweeted, "AMERCIA TEH BUETIFLU."
The Romney campaign told The Washington Post that it had submitted a corrected version of the app to Apple, which has to approve the update before it goes live.

    Man this is stupid. I actually don't find idiots making fun of typos to be very funny, maybe that's just me. And maybe that is because I do it all the time when I am trying to type fast. :lol:

    Agreed as said above - a non-issue (kinda like when Obama kept mispronouncing "corpsmen").

    Also, "Amercia" sounds like one of those pharmaceuticals always being plugged in commercials.

    a couple things, I agree this is not a major issue...but, if Team O-bama created an App(lication) that misspelled 'merica this place would explode...and y'all know it...

    sadly, I thinks folks have accepted that Mitten's is buffoon and this is just another day in the world of mitt... :lol:

    Most people voting for Mitt don't know how to use apps or twitter ... or even know they exist. ;)

    Anyway, his team should have done a spell check. Surely there is an app for that.

    I think anyone going nuts over this decided who they were voting for long before this app came out because nobody honestly thinks that Mitt Romney created the app himself. Once you realize that he didn't misspell America the whole thing becomes irrelevent.
