Hotels in Austin, TX?

Hey guys, going to Austin in October for a conference. Looking for the best hotel for the $. Things I like, safe, clean, actual breakfast etc. Anyone have any hotels in mind?
Also I'll be looking for nightlife which I'm sure will be easy to find.
