What's happening... I hope we are still focusing on the music.

I'm not really sure why they couldn't have waited to do this until after the primary is over. Jeff Merkley is an equally credible democratic candidate and if we're serious about getting Gordon Smith out we need to get behind whoever wins in May. That being said Jeff certainly doesn't have the media savvy Novick does, no wonder all the celebs are lining up behind him.

Just when we thought it was going to be a 'normal' tour...its turning into a mini-VFC tour and now Stone's got something to say?? People get pissed about Ed's political rants and now Stone...sheesh
I met my wife here...you can too! Don't lose hope!

As someone who was shut out of the 10c MSG sale though, I sure wish those seats were given to 10c :)
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

wonder if 'Bu$hleaguer' will make a triumphant return to the set list?
wonder why this isn't advertised for VA, FL SC shows?
    will Stone bust out 'Mankind'?
I love to turn you on

i'm not quite sure how you think a couple rows of seats going to a political campaign makes this thing a vfc tour...i'm still amazed that people freak out at PJ being "political." they've always been political, always will. evenflow is fucking political!

plus the vfc shows were a hell of a lot of fun! it wouldn't be bad if this turned into that type of tour, IMHO.

c'mon people-Stone has always been an activist.

politics may be one of the main reasons they are going out

Expect more of the same, a LOT more.

Is there any amount of political activity they could do that would make all you whiners quit your fandom? If so, tell me what that point is so I can tell them, they can do it, and you guys can just go away.

I think it's terrific that Pearl Jam cares enough about where this country is headed to put its self out there and to take a stand. Being a card carrying member of the Libertarian Party, I'm stoked to see someone challenging the incumbents , incumbents who have contributed to a 9 trillion dollar debt, a war which has spent millions per day for more than 5 years, etc.. etc..

I'm all for a VFC tour, though I think closer to November is a better time .Endorsing candidates and causes, things that will encourage debate about where this country is headed , and put real issues up front, is fine by me.

Glad also to see Krist Novoselic's name on the list. I had the pleasure of hearing him speak about first ammendment rights, and the erosion of same, at an LP convention in Portland in 06. Very eloquent.

Yep - especially if you figured out that if you joined Moveon.com like I did and made a 50 dollar donation per ticket you could get tickets in the first 5 rows. I paid 50 + face and got 5th row for Reading and 2nd row for Toledo and the best part was Moveon fedexed the tickets to my house for free.

Then I promptly unjoined Moveon after the shows. ;)

I informed MoveOn that I am a LP member after the tour . The only info I still get from them are occasional e-mails informing me of their activities. No money requests or pressure tactics.

what does this have to do with music, isn't their a politics section of the pit? I can understand if its music related but this feels unsolicited

They're not front row tix and no one is getting screwed out of anything. In fact, if any 10C member got those seats in a 10C sale, they'd be bitching.. Oh wait, we bitch no matter what. Why can't the band do their part to support a candidate they think will do a better job for the people? Everyone is so happy to participate in the CCFA stuff.. Why is this less of a worthy cause if it is important to one of the people that happen to be in the band and as such are able to generate financial support for a candidate through their popularity?

I get confused by people here sometimes. We love the band not only for their music, but what they stand for... If they waiver from whatever idea we have conjured in our minds of what they are or should be, we slam them, fight with eachother, etc.. Isn't it all about peace and the common good of all? Isn't that what we want from them? I know we love the music, but when you find yourself in a position where your opinions can be heard, why not voice them?

    Peace out.

Im not going to any of these 3 particular shows, I think its a wonderful idea though, if they have certain political convictions and causes they want to support I see nothing wrong with them using the means they have.

I wonder where all those cases of left hook lager will go. I voted Merkley, glad to see he cleaned up: http://www.oregonlive.com/special/index.ssf/2008/05/senate.html

One troublign sign for Merkley: He didn't win Portland, that light blue sliver of Multnomah County for Novick up in the northwest corner of the state map.

Yeah, I'm sure since Novick lost Multnomah County is going to go for Gordon Smith instead of Merkley. Dumbass. Merkley may easily ride Obama's coattails to DC this fall. Its actually more encouraging to me for a Democratic candidate to have more support outside of Multnomah County in a statewide election.
