Seems to be the way things work these days.

I mean, Los Angeles has had (and will have, this coming month and over the next few as well) many visits by the President - in fact, a record raising of funds with his most recent. By mostly-Hollywood "billionaires". Plus, I and everyone else living in this city have had to foot the bill for additional police, street closures, time wasted, gas wasted, income forfeited.

So, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

True and good point, Godfather. Both parties are run on big money. But I don't think there are nearly as many billionaires in Hollywood as there on are the right. There's big money and then there's HUMONGOUS money.

my question is why all the money is needed ? the money these goofballs collect in donations must exceed what they actually need to run for president....I would think anyway.

They need to get the kickbacks out of politics. That goes for everybody. It is a cancer that is overtaking this country.

Plenty of deep pockets on Obama's side, too. If you think either team is more "of the people" you're just being silly. Obama's top 2008 donors:

Right again, Godfather. Imagine the potentially great leaders out there we'll never have because they don't have the money. Sad, huh?

I'm writing a paper on this as we speak, and it's disgusting.

I don't know why we can't have publicly funded campaigns, but that's just me.

I'm paraphrasing, but Ron Paul had a fantastic quote about the money not being the problem, but the fact that there is something to be bought.

Nancy Pelosi's net worth has TRIPLED since Obama took office.

This happens on both sides, until everyone realizes that it doesn't matter what party you vote for but instead the candidate the problem will never be solved.
