    I like Generation Records and Other Music. Generation Records has a much bigger selection. I also took the liberty of including the nearest coffee shop to each in case you happen to be a coffee addict like me :D

    Generation Records: 210 Thompson St. between w. 3rd and Bleecker St. [Third Rail Coffee on Sullivan between w. 3rd & Bleecker, one street over]

    Other Music: 15 East 4th St. between Lafayette & Broadway [La Colombe Torrefaction right next door]

    There are a ton of record stores in the Village, around where Generation Records is. If you walk around you'll probably stumble onto them, or you can look them up on the RSD site.

    Enjoy NYC! :mrgreen::mrgreen:

    Thanks so much ! In DC all of the shops are on 18th St (except Soms which is on 14th) and they are within the same 4 blocks which makes it easy. Manhattan is huge in comparison. I appreciate the advice .

    Here's something else that might help, I don't know where all the record stores are, but I'm tight with Googlemaps :mrgreen:

    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=record+store&sll=40.728868,-73.999293&sspn=0.006295,0.006295&near=210+Thompson+Street,+Manhattan,+NY+10012+(Generation+Records)&geocode=CSbvjWwfi4z6FSR5bQIdQ9yW-yF7dhMkubwkSA&dq=Generation+Records,+loc:+210+Thompson+Street,+Manhattan,+NY&hq=record+store&t=m&z=16

    The other store I've been to is Village Music World, which shows up in Googlemaps, just be careful because they might jack up their prices (they did for RSD, although not to the levels I've seen others report on here).

    Academy Records on West 18th Street is a must-stop one. Great selection (though maybe not that big, the quality is excellent).

    Generation Records and Bleecker Street Records are my 2 favorites. SuMay mentioned Generation's address, Bleecker Street's is 239 Bleecker Street (between Leroy and Carmine Sts.)

    bleecker street is great...especially if you love cats. no joke. you'll see what i'm talking about.

    my only complaint about them is that they sell a lot of bootlegs and live performances of shows (on CD) for outrageous prices. i remember when i was younger i bought a pj boot from 94 for $25. other than that, they have a great selection of old and new vinyl.

    Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
    Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
