I remember a debate over middle eastern women having to remove their head and face covering here in the United States and now in UAE someone is complaining that tourest show too much skin...now I have to laugh just a little at this...I think when a person moves to or visits another country they should respect that countrys customes and not force their own countrys customs on the country the visit or move to.

seems to be the same train of thought all over the world...

Considering a bunch of dudes make the rules over there, you think it would be the other way around.

It must be awesome to be a woman in the middle east.

My brother in law is Indian so when my sister in law and niece travel and visit the
family there they respect the culture and dress as the local women do.

whenever i travel i wear levis and a t-shirt with a button down short sleeve or long sleeve dress shirt over the t- shirt. when it gets hot i remove dress shirt and i wear boots.

im not indian im some dude from iowa. i wear jeans and t-shirts and sometimes i wear a ball cap style cap and everyday i wear two different style swimmers caps because im in a chlorine filled pool workin like nobodies business

i then get dressed back into my levis even when in japan, korea and russia

The fellas from the middle east who are sensitive to women covering up would have a heart attack if they ever visited south florida...all the women are half naked down here most of the time. ;)
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

I think there's a middle-ground - or should be, anyway. I mean, the US itself is a stew of many cultures expressed, blended, some foresaken.

When I was in my 20s, I did one of those European tour things - you know, a shitload of countries packed into a really short time.

    (It was spectacular and life-changing.)

When visiting some of the churches in Italy and Spain, we were asked to respect the clothing customs within those places. I did so; it wasn't a sacrifice for me, plus I was a visitor and knew what the culture was like before I went there. It would've been nice if others I was with had done the same, but to force it? Wrong, to me.

By the same token, at my father's funeral, the rabbi (who was a smug asshole - a term I never thought I'd apply to someone supposed to be so...learned and respected) gave my guy shit for not wearing a yarmulke inside the temple. I told the rabbi I didn't think my dad or god would give a flying fuck about what was or wasn't on someone's head.
