Hi all!
If you are in the Ohio vicinity or are passionate about the harmful effects of fracking nationwide, please make sure you swing by Columbus June 17th and let everyone know! http://www.dontfrackoh.org/ has all the information you need plus important information on fracking. Not only does it pollute the air and water, it also causes serious social complications. YOUR health is at risk. I'm not affiliated with the group organizing, but am very passionate and want the word spread! If you are curious or have questions, let me know!

We all like energy, Waves, but if the energy we produce for our luxuries ruins our environment such that it cannot sustain our species any longer there won't be any hot showers... or Marshall amplifiers for that matter. Now that would suck. If we want to keep any semblance of these luxuries (and on the time line of human history they are but a tiny blip on the screen) we need to find clean alternatives.

Some common Joe is probably being paid to put the well in the ground.
While I agree it is of utmost importance to find clean alternatives, I think something needs to be said for the current alternatives we are spending money on. I know you and I might disagree on this, but I just don't see our country voluntarily reducing consumption, installing more "green" energy and continuing to live our lives. One of the fundamental economic tenets is, "people respond to incentives". And this country just doesn't seem that interested in the change it would take to get off of fossil fuels. Our current alternative energies, are nothing more than supplemental energy. All the money we spend on subsidizing energy(all energy) has a much better use in the university system, funding research. We haven't even begun to tip the scale on understanding the incredible power of the atom, but it is there. Stop guaranteeing loans for solar/wind companies that aren't providing sufficient energy. The problem is, nobody wants to tell the emperor he doesn't have any clothes on, our current alternative energies aren't the solution. We need to fund research more than ever right now.
