Why No Love For Red Rocks??

You'd figure PJ would love playing Red Rocks but they've only hit it once and that was in 1995 (great set; check out the song Falling Down, Red Rocks '95 was the only time its been played live).

I was wondering if anyone had any incite to why we haven't had a chance to enjoy some Pearl Jam under the Rocks.

My best guess is because Red Rocks only holds 9450 people and well, Pearl Jam draws a lot more than that. Even if they played 2 shows it would sell out in seconds and the amount people coming to the amphitheater to try to listen outside would just be huge. I just think it's too small for them at this moment.

    Agreed.

Plenty of bands do 3 or 4 night runs at Red Rocks. I guess that would just be too hopeful.

Wow I didn't know this place held so few people. I would love to see PJ there, but getting tix would be a nightmare.

I'm so excited for Neil. The Alabama Shakes are opening and if you haven't heard of them yet, take a trip over to Youtube and check em out. They're sick.

It's probably the most expensive show at Red Rocks though.
  • I'm curious about this as well. After all they played Bill Graham Civic Center 3 nights in 2006, which is about 7,000 capacity.

It's true about not getting tix...phish played there in 2009 and only one person i know got tix and we have a lot of friends who tried, me and my husband included (from 4 different computers!) It sold out almost instantly! It totally sucked not being able to get into a show that is in your state and so close. Most of my friends ended up going anyway but they had to listen from the hills outside the show. There and the Gorge are definitely my favorite venues!

Red Rocks is great but you lose your buzz climbing the ungodly amount of stairs it takes to reach the venue. That being said, I'd be there! :D

I was at Red Rocks a few weeks ago and thought the same thing. They need to do a residency at RR: 3-5 shows minimum (but they could likely sell out as many shows as they want to play). I would be fine if they jacked-up the price up because it is such a small venue (the prior post is correct, it seats just less than 10,000). It would be well worth it! Red Rocks has no curfew, which is conducive legendary PJ shows. Well, there may be some curfew, but I saw MMJ there a few weeks ago and they played until nearly 1am both nights. (In fact, I am listening to the MMJ Red Rocks bootlegs as I type this…). For those of you who have never been there, RR is a national park and there is nothing anywhere around it. I also imagine the boys in PJ would enjoy spending a week or so in Denver given they all seem to enjoy the outdoors.

Since PJ unfortunately seems averse to doing major tours, doing a series of shows at RR next summer makes perfect sense. Denver has one of the country's busiest airports and RR is easy to get to ($50 cab from downtown). Moreover, there is not a better venue anywhere in the world.
Kat & Sea, please make this happen!

PS – while I am making requests, please play Houston too. It has been too long.
