Great album, really a different musical direction for him. It's streaming free on iTunes right now if you haven't had a chance to check it out. Nods to Neil Young and Joni Mitchell in the opening track, and Crosby/Nash do background vox on the title track.

Chuck Leavell plays keyboards/piano on a handful of tracks also...very solid album, and songwriting-wise, I think it's his best.

I agree. It's like he finally grew up and ditched the pretentiousness that has seemed to plague him recently. Apparently he moved to Montana to get away from everything. I liked Continuum and the Trio stuff, but this seems like the best move he's ever made. Nothing forced, and a very solid "Album." All the songs have their place.

Seriously everybody, go give this one a shot. Listen to Track 1, "Queen of California" for free on iTunes. If you don't dig it, then leave. But at least try it on for size.
