A Question To Those...

...who say that, "meh, setlist wasn't that great." I'm curious to what you are looking for in a set list? Is there a show in the past that you would say "man, if they could just play a setlist like XXXX, this show would have been awesome."

Seriously, I'm sitting here in butt fuck Winnipeg, and even if Ed had told me about the setlists before I bought tickets, I still would have went to every show. I guess it's just because I've only seen them once.
Hail, hail the lucky ones, I refer to those in love.

Set list complainers are douche bags. They're all awesome, just some are better.

Anyway, I think MSG I this tour might have been the best I've seen and I've seen some good ones.

  • Okay so...i know someone who said, "The DC setlist was safe" and "there were too many repeats in MSG 1 and 2". My response was, "Then you're going to too many shows."

Honestly, i'm okay with watching 2 hours of Evenflow. People who complain about setlists are spoiled, imo.

For me i don't care too much about setlists it's how they and the crowd perform both at the gig and on the boots. Some people get overexcited about the B sides. Education is OK but i'd take Evenflow anyday.

I think some people want to see a show full of B Sides, unless that B Side is Yellow Ledbetter or another song that gets played "too much."

I like all set lists. If I got a greatest hits show, I would be stoked.

I guess it is just a matter of opinion and what songs you yourself prefer. Everyone has different tastes...some prefer all obsure songs......we all like what we like. There have been a PJ show or 2 where I thought, hmmmm, they could have done a few different but as someone else said...had I known the setlist prior to the show...I would still go no matter what.

I like how they change up the lists. I know when they play more then one show in a city that I must go to both cause they will mix it up unlike other bands that pretty much stick to the same list.

I guess it is all a matter of opinion and I am just thankful that I have been able to see them as many times as I have knowing that others do not get the chance.

Plus as someone else said....the crowd has so much to do with it. I thought my section was going to cave in with the movement of the concrete! It was awesome! I have been to a few concerts (not PJ) lately where the crowds just sucked.

People who complain about others "complaining" about setlists need to be a little less sensitive.

this is a DISCUSSION board. people are here to discuss. dont take it personally if someone isnt into the setlist of "your" show. its not a personal attack. sure, even a greatest hits PJ show is better than any other band's best show ever, but do you expect people sitting at home following along in a thread to get excited when they see that Even Flow was played?

if you want mindless cheerleading, there is plenty of it here. but dont get pissed about people discussing or comparing setlists. we know every show you go to is "the best show ever," but for people who arent there, they are free to discuss what they see on paper.

  • I like a good mix up, & everyone has personal favorite songs, some of my favs are SOLAT, I Got shit, sad, present tense, in my tree, in hiding, low light, I love Jeremy live, I enjoy the hits for the most part, Corduroy is an anthem, anything off the new album, VS, Only songs i care not to hear are Crazy Mary really.

Its all about preference, a nice interesting mix.

I agree, but I also think there's a lot of "too cool for the room" thinking that happens with the setlist complainers... like only an amateur fan would want to hear "Evenflow". They're not playing 10C-only shows. I'm into the b-sides like everyone else (and the Vic show delivered and thank God I was there, 'cause that's as close to a 10C-only show that we'll probably see for a long time) and love to hear them live, but I'm not so delusional to think that a setlist is "safe" or "boring" because 50% of the stuff played isn't off of Lost Dogs.
