It was so sad and weird because Jake realized pretty much immediately that Tyson wasn't fit to be in the ring, so he very clearly pulled every single punch, which I'm sure really sucked for him (I imagine he had a bit of a revelation right then and there about the situation he had placed himself in - awkward!). It wasn't really a fight at all. That says a lot about Jake's character, because he could have just KO'd Tyson but chose not to humiliate or hurt him, but it made it uncomfortable and sad, especially because Tyson knew that it was happening.

I thought it was a decent broadcast for a first time event. I did not have any of the streaming issues. Tyson had no business being in the ring. But I was entertained.

I find it strange how that fight was "sanctioned". Who allows a 58 year old man in a boxing ring?

    Sad in so many ways.

Probably comes down to money and adding to Jake's record as a professional fighter. It was ok. Keep in mind it is boxing. They will let anyone that can still see in the ring.

It is just the entertainment business. Glad I did not have to pay an extra $89.99 for a night of boxing. The women's fight was a good watch.

supposedly, tyson got $20M and paul got $40M. that’s $1.25M and $2.5M per minute, respectively. jerry jones probably made some money too.

  • Nobody was pulling any punches.
Paul was smart enough not to stay open and give Mike a punchers chance.
He clearly had no legs and no business being in there, although it is his body so I don't think it should be outlawed or anything.
If he was facing a true heavyweight that would have been over in 1-2 rounds.
Paul is entertaining and bringing some eyes back to boxing but he is not a serious heavyweight contender.

Smart guy to make more and more money and feed his ego by mostly fighting people who he knows he can beat w.o risking hurting himself too much.

I'd like to see Canelo but Paul wants to fight at 200 pounds.  That is 30+ pounds up for Canelo and right where Paul usually is.  (He was much heavier for Tyson.)

    Weight/ height matters in boxing.
Paul should try to fight a big name at the proper Weight class.
That I'd pay to see....him get his ass whooped.

He's too smart for that, though.

I dunno F’me. I have no idea how good/not good Paul is but in the lead up they showed him throwing punches that absolutely floored his previous opponents. where those guys tomato cans? I dunno but he seemed to throw nothing like that at Tyson. maybe Tyson didn’t let him? again, I dunno.

I think Paul was pulling nearly every punch from like the 4th round on. You couldn’t even bet on the fight on FanDuel in Pennsylvania because it was obviously going to be a farce. Tyson was washed in his late 30’s. People that watched his training videos and thought that meant he could still box were delusional.

I feel like everything good and everything bad about boxing was on display last night. The good? Well a good fight is a good fight and the welterweight and women’s fights were great. The bad? Those fights ended in a draw and with (in most people’s opinion) the wrong woman winning. And as for a boring main event, whether it’s old man Tyson or prime Mayweather, you’re rarely gonna get your money’s worth.

Some opinions from both of us, I guess, but I saw a guy not wanting to get in close enough to catch one.  Mike wasn't chasing him, that's for sure.
Also, almost nobody he previously fought was a real boxer....so yes, to that.
