I.

I am caught in an ocean,
a place where land is only a vague concept
in a mind
that may or may not exist.
Nothing shields the force of the sun,
drinking the walls of my fluid cocoon.
Winds power the waves
into rolling hills,
built to collapse on the valleys.
I am only here in passing,
below
in the depths
driven by currents
unseen,
untouched,
undone.

II.

I can swim beneath
your surface,
see the currents that drive
the waves of your being.
Feel the strength
as you carve the trenches
that scar the earth.
Know the beauty that forms;
new life that blooms in your passing.
I can see it,
and feel it,
and know it,
never to understand it.
