hey so does anyone know the intention of this phrase in the FAQ? about not selling illegal bootlegs...does that mean copies of shows that have been made available for sale but are just cdr burnt copies, or burnt copies of homemade recordings of shows, or does that include those old school italian-made sliver cd bootlegs from back in the early/mid-90's that all cost me like 50 bucks a pop originally? can we sell those?

I believe you cant "sell" any of the above that you mentioned. those italian made cd's were not legit either and technically should have never been sold. (fortunately for us, those were some ROCKIN' shows.) So anyway, no you cant download cd's and sell them, or make your own recording and sell them, you cant burn a copy and sell it. Nada, Zip, Ziltch. I believe that is their intention. (On a sidenote, i believe that is one reason they decided to record all of their shows and make available thru the band; better quality, cheaper, and hell, it goes to the BAND!!)

So, is there a legit way to hear these? I'm new to the boot scene.

What are you looking for? I have close to/a little over 70 of the old silvers and the box sets. PM me.

***I am not looking to sell any, but, I would be up to burning some FLACs for you.***

not looking for any. and i also understand that they're available free for download if you just want the audio.

what i want to know is: as collector's items, are the old silver italian bootlegs ok to sell here?

backstory is that me and a buddy who i worked with used to pick one up now and then...poor in our early/mid 20's, so 50 or 60 bucks was a big hit. anyway, we'd take them back to the radio station, run them through various pieces of production equipment to sweeten them, and then burn copies that sounded usually better than what we had just bought. this was before the internet. before trading, other than the occasional grateful dead cassette party. before it was understood that the artists weren't being paid. innocent, legitimate purchases to us. so, i have a few of those old original italian ones laying around, and i'm wondering if they're cool to sell or not. if not, i'm good with that. figured they'd be better offered to collectors here than on the bay, that's all.
