I think this is the disgrace of this clown. The Gillard Government is actually achieving a lot of good things for this country, not that the Murdoch (and other self interested) press will tell you that.

i dont need a newspaper to tell me that the gillard government is the worst government we've had since federation. my intelligent brain tells me that. a minority government, now headed by the most phony, 2 faced, least popular, backstabbing prime minister, that has been held to ransom by a communist party to keep power...

what an age we live in. the sooner these morons are kicked out in a whitewash election, the better.

but yes, abbot is an idiot, and i wish anyone but he was leader of the opposition... but as the ALP is so embarrassingly bad, the lnp doesnt have to do anything, and to quote homer simpson, they will win by the 2 sweetest words in the english language "de fault, de fault".

"Abbott's a morally & intellectually bankrupt throwback. A desperate, hysteria-mongering, habitually dishonest, arrogant megalomaniac. The rest of the Liberal party is little better. Team Abbott represents the worst & most radically Right-wing and politically atavistic pack of narcissistic, anti-democratic, neoconservative corporatist plutocrats to have ever emerged from a major party. If the Liberals get in again they will resume & accelerate the program Howard was kicked out for pulling. They have learnt nothing and if Australia elects him - either has the country."

That's a quite a load of negative adjectives to live down. If they're accurate, I can see why you wouldn't want this guy to be prime minister... or even chairman of a local bridge club.

haha yeh. dont read to much into it, it's only a melodramatic far left propaganda site. i'm surprised they didn't say that his policies include genocide.

will never be prime minister... and having him as the leader hurts the party; I don't think I could ever vote for them anyway (well... maybe turnbull but he'll never lead them again) but the swing vote is largely pissed at labor whilst hating tony
I don't mean to offend anyone, a lot of what I say should be taken with a grain of salt... that said for most of you I'm a stranger on a computer on the other side of the world, don't give me that sort of power!

As a genuine swing voter myself...can anyone honestly ever remember a time in Australian politics where the two leaders of our major parties have been so damn unlikable...I find it really depressing that one of them has to win!

It reflects so incredibly poorly on our most magnificent country

If Malcolm Turnbull were leader of the opposition the ALP would be annihilated at the next election.

I had a discussion just prior to the last election with a friend trying to convince me to vote for the sex party.

In jest I said...yeah sure...can you just give me a brief outline of their economic plan for our countries future...tell me their policy on imigration and the boat people...or what is their stance on environmental issues like climate change...

Her response...we have one policy that fits all...we just say FUCK IT!

but its not like we actually voted gillard in. or that we ever vote specifically for any of our prime ministers. and even if we did, a system where the voted leader can be ousted and replaced by someone of the partys choosing, without the will of the people, needs to be looked at.

Don't know who your friend is but we were a very young party in the last federal election having only participated in one byelection - higgins - prior to that. We're actually not three years old yet - but we certainly have more and more detailed policies and opinions on those issues

Yeah sorry your move, really meant no offense at all...was just a drunken conversation all spoken in jest...just thought her response was pretty funny

...and cate that is the most frustrating thing about our election process for sure...I am not a huge fan of Kevin Rudd or anything...but the fact that he was voted in by the Australian people...but then the party has the ability to boot him out because he cant win the popularity contest within his own party...is just digusting to me

actually to me the most frustrating thing about our voting process is preferential voting. if i wanted to vote for the labor(or whoever) party, id vote for the labor(or whoever) party. i choose not to, so i dont want my vote ending up with them. its bullshit.

the real issue with preference voting is even if you follow your candidates preferences its got nothing to do with their policies/opinions on the other candidates but is all about deals that have been struck up.

No offence taken, just hate when we're seen as a single policy party, or a joke, although seems to be happening less and less, are doing better than the greens were at this age.
