The temperature exceeded 102 all 3 days, so we didn't rush to get there early.
Friday was like a retro day....we saw Jimmy Cliff, Refused,James, Madness and Pulp. We went on a huge RSD shopping spree....bought way too many titles....got caught up in the RSD madness! Someone tipped us off that the Black Keys were gonna pay homage to Levon Helm, so we watched some of their set....John Fogerty came out and played "The Weight". We also caught a few songs by Yuck....sorta DinosaurJr.-esque.
Saturday was Radiohead, and since it was so packed, we knew we'd watch them from far back.....great set, and the lights, video and sound made it that we could get the full effect of the show, even from far away. The wife and I could barely walk back to the shuttle bus afterwards at 1am. A 20 minute walk after 10 hours of standing was difficult. My favorite Saturday band was Kasabian.....they drew a huge tent crowd, and we were near a bunch of crazy Brits who made it very fun! It is weird how many microcosims of music fans at the festival. We also saw Kaiser Chiefs ( they seem spent ), Squeeze, who are always fun, Noel Gallagher and the Buzzcocks.
I made a point of spending time in the dance tents. It is not everyones' cup of tea, but watching a DJ excite 3000 people to dance is a cool experience. The dance tent experience was my favorite part of the weekend.....the lights, lazers, beats and video put me in an energized mood! We saw David Guetta and Sebastian Ingrosso on Saturday, as well as DJ Shadow and Modeselektor on Sunday. It seemed as if the dance-tent people couldn't care less about any of the conventional bands.
Sunday was a great day.....At the drive in was amazing, as were the Hives, Seun Kuti and Wild Flag. Justice played the main stage, and they were great! They had great lights and sound...Most of their mixes were guitar-oriented. Seeing a loud DJ act outdoors is something everyone should experience at a huge festival, even if you aren't into dance music.
The Dre/Snoop/50 cent/wiz khalifa/Eminem/Hologram 2pac set was perfect for a festival setting. The crowd seemed very united, and it was nice to end the festie with such a unique show.

You got some great acts. Wild Flag, Kasabian, Fogerty, Dre/Snoop would have been great to see but I'll settle for Franz Ferdinand, Florence + the Machine, the Shins and Sabbath. Maybe next year we'll make it out to the desert.
Also very happy to hear the Justice show was good. Heard they had technical difficulties the first weekend resulting in a shortened set. We're taking our son to Lolla this summer and Justice is his #1 have to see so I'm psyched that they put on a good show last weekend. Can't wait to hear On N On under the Chicago sky
2007: Chicago
2008: Hartford, Mansfield I & II, EV Boston
2009: Philly III & IV
2010: Boston
2011: PJ20
2012: Philly
2013: Worcester I & II, Brooklyn I & II
The kid has good taste!
I wonder if Sabbath and Justice will share the same stage prop....the Cross!
