    In reading a book on the history of the Yankees they talk a lot about the early days of both tv and radio. Funny that the Yankees were hesistant to broadcast games on the radio because they thought it would keep people from coming out in person until they realized they could describe the action, make it exciting and tell people how to get tickets.

    debuted at 16 for Brooklyn in 1944. hit his first HR the next year at 17. retired at age 25

    played for the dodgers, phillies and cubs

    his first HR was the only run scored by the dodgers that day, an 11-1 loss to the pirates at ebbets field
