I fear what may happen with the conviction/non conviction of George Zimmerman
say for instance, he is found not guilty, and it is clear the prosecution could not convince a jury for their case, maybe the self defense case is too strong, whatever the reason
I can see people not accepting that point blank and reacting with riots and property damage
it scares the hell out of me honestly
and yeah, I'm old too
and yeah, 20 years...seems like it was just last year when this happened...and TEN was on repeat on my discman :ugeek:
First spot we hit it was my liqour store.
I finally got all that alcohol I can't afford.
With red lights flashin' time to retire,
And then we turned that liquor store into a structure fire.
Next stop we hit it was the music shop,
It only took one brick to make that window drop.
Finally we got our own p.a.
Where do you think I got this guitar that you're hearing today?
i just wanted to crack wise about getting old.
sorry I hijacked your thread Jason, I knew your real point, I just couldn't help express my concerns
sorry
In any event, I remember watching TV at work, seeing what was happening. We all headed home early; unforgettable and sobering to see ashes falling like snow; we were covered, and I live aways from where most of the damage was done. Once home, looking at the skyline of my city and seeing plumes of black smoke...so many goddamned fires.
And watching the news. That poor Reginald Denny...and so many others who were beaten for no reason other than their skin color, or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
People were fucking animals. It was fucking heartbreaking.
I don't even regard 200 years as a long time. But that's just me.
2000 years, and I start to struggle placing myself in their shoes, but I can easily put myself back in time 100 years and get a feel for what it was like.
Shit, I still remember small details of things that happened 20 years ago as if they occurred yesterday.
Maybe people just have different perspectives when it comes to time?
I think we experience it differently, based on age, make-up, experiences...so much more I'm sure.
I read an article awhile back about why time seems to pass quicker as we get older, and how as the pieces go by, they're smaller and smaller increments of our lives. Like when you were a kid and summer vacation seemed deliciously eternal.
Byrnzie, your remarks are interesting, because I'd agree in terms of looking at history, evolution, what have you. But on the personal side it can sometimes seem a lifetime ago. Depends on how those 20 years are being examined. I mean, how many of us have such distinct childhood memories? A lot, I'd imagine.
As for the comments up there about getting older, I don't mind anymore and now embrace it...means I'm still alive.
