Hard to believe this is the first thread on Abel. 3 mixtapes released during 3 seasons of the year last year. All 3 free online. And he released some of the best music last year, definitely in the top 5 of albums last year. Along with Frank Ocean, a Village Voice writer put it well "r and b has changed again". At first the guy was just an indie guy, now with the song with Drake, and the performance at Coachella, he's huge.
Interesting guy. Not much is known about him, he hasnt done many interviews if any at all, and as i said released 3 mixtapes last year for free, and those mixtapes were probably better than just about any other studio album of 2011 other than maybe Adele or something.
insane to think until the other day at coachella he hadnt played any US show, and only a few shows period. From what i hear his entire tour sold out, every single show, in mere seconds.

People are missing out by not listening to The Weeknd!
Bump it up!!
I know there are more of you out there, listening.
So... How's everyone liking the new album?
I've had it on heavy rotation the last 2 weeks and I am loving it!
Professional & Tears in the Rain are my favorites. Odd Look w/ Kavinski on the deluxe version is pretty damn nasty too. Love that 80's vibe and bass sound on this album.
This guy could sing the phone book and it would bring me to tears.
I don't think he'll ever touch House of Balloons.
