Flawless
By Mari Beth Duncan

Alone, crawling on the dirt floor in the black
Wanting a home and out of this makeshift shack.
Listening intently for a sign, a step, a sound
Wishing, wanting only to be discovered… to be found.

Time passes slowly and then stands suddenly still
Am I forgotten... a letter with an unbroken seal?
Wanting to rise, wanting to fall
Wanting everything and then nothing at all

Screaming, shouting, whispering then crying,
Despairing hope, surrendering or trying,
Mindful of unbearable battling rage
And Breaking bars on this steel cage.

Ripping flesh from broken bones,
Beaten, battered from thrown stones.
Sweet revenge sours the mind.
Nails scrape concrete, Teeth grind.

Handful of red streaked hair, tangled.
Gasping for air, bruised neck, strangled.
Clothes torn and shredded, filthy dirty, barefoot and braless
Sun blinds my eyes, Daddy grabs my hand, suddenly, I’m flawless.

  • Thanks for the comment... I was up for over 24 hours listening and watching PJ on YouTube and when the sun came up for the second time, I was overwhelmed with inspiration. This is what came out... It took only 15 minutes to write... A friend of mine wants to make it into a song... It would be awesome to hear it to music, but I'm not so sure anything will become of it... Oh well... At least someone out there enjoyed it, that is, besides my family and close friends...

I found myself singing the words to myself while I was reading it, so I think it could definitely be made into a song! I would love to see what happens to it after you play around with it for a while.

    sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
    no more forever."

  • Somehow the only type of music I seem to be able to hear when I read it is an 'Otep' type of sound... If you don't know 'Otep'... You should look them up... Not my fav type of music... But definately different...
