Our country is drstroying itself. How did we allow such complete idiots to rule us? As a species are we truly this stupid and weak? I'm not a conspiracy nut but I see our government controlling more and more of our food supply, and thats never a good thing. This is just taking it to a whole new level of idiocy.

Be careful what you believe from Naturalnews.com. The site tends to be alarmist and not a very reliable source for truthful news. I would research that story more to find out validity.
  • Welcome to amertopia my friend..

Organizations like the Dept of agriculture and the EPA completely out of control. Just read some of these stories..

Read the article i sourced in Ted Nugents name.
It is more or less accurate.

The farm was raising "feral" pigs ...
"feral" only in the sense that their genetic stock was not pedigreed or related to any modern or 19th century small farm "breed" ... they were genetically related to old world pigs, the razorback, or some type of original, non-bread pig. I'm not sure where their stock actually came from, but I'm quite sure they had been raising this line of pigs for some time, so calling them "feral" is a bit more than a bit ridiculous (imho).

However, the law up there was aimed at culling the "feral pig" population, as they believed themselves to have a "feral pig problem" in Michigan. Something about wild pigs running rampant and destroying the landscape and ruining habitat for other animals.

Sounds like an absolute load of BS to me.

Like other Midwestern states, Michigan is experiencing a growing problem with feral or wild swine. Thirty years ago, there were no feral swine sightings reported in Michigan. By the end of 2011, more than 340 feral swine had been spotted in 72 of Michigan's 83 counties, and 286 have been reported killed. A sow can have two litters a year of four to six piglets. Based on their prolific breeding practices, it is estimated that feral swine in Michigan currently could number between 1,000 and 3,000.

Feral swine are a problem for two main reasons - they can host many parasites and diseases that threaten humans, domestic livestock and wildlife; and they can cause extensive damage to forests, agricultural lands and Michigan's water resources.

    ....

If the DNR is correct, Ted has less then 10 years to learn the banjo.

Maybe there were no feral swine sightings 30 years ago because
    a. no one gave a fuck about feral swine, and did not "report them"
    b. who the fuck would they report them to?
("Uh Excuse me, is this the Michigan Tribune? I just saw some wild pigs!")
    c. maybe the pigs had enough wild space to run free with out coming in contact with humans
(you know, like Big Foot) and we have encroached on their land.

    Who knows.

    Either way,
this guy had CONTAINED pigs, being raised on pasture, IN A FENCE.
Doesn't sound to "feral" to me.
Unless they are arguing that the genetic composition of his pigs some how was more inherently risky of disease than a Named-Breed pig, i find their assertions regarding his pigs to be borderline insane.

According to the DNR, notice was given six months ago on 10/12/11. Farmers risk fines and violations if their operations continued past 4/1/12. There is no way a farmer was risking committing a felony.

From the Free Press on 4/1/12 ....

The state Department of Natural Resources has had shoot-on-sight approval on the critters for more than a year while trying to work out regulations for the game ranches that import them for trophy hunters. But with the Legislature failing to agree on anything, the DNR's invasive species designation took effect Oct. 1 and will be enforced as of today, DNR Public Information Officer Ed Golden said Friday.

"We delayed active enforcement to give anybody who had them an opportunity to depopulate," Golden said. "We think there may be some remaining. We're going to start working with the facilities, the owners, doing voluntary inspections. We're hoping they will get rid of them on their own."

I don't have a problem with people raising any type of pigs that are contained. If you are importing them for the sole purpose of setting them free, or just using them specifically for hunts, then I can see that being a problem. We hunt wild hogs around here all the time, and the meat is amazing. Do they carry parasites...yes. Can they spread disease...yes. But if they are in a controlled environment and contained they won't. They are cared for and treated for disease just like any domesticated animal would be. These idiots are controlling farmers because their pigs "might" get out and wreak havoc on the land. I believe the reality is it's all about the money. These pigs are a cheap alternative to what corporate farmers are pushing, and it's preferable to the public as a source of meat since it is free of all the bullshit they feed factory animals. What's next? No Araucana chickens, because they don't look like the ones factories use for egg production?

Our government, especially starting with the Bush administration and continuing full steam ahead with the current President has done more to destroy the liberties and freedom of the people than any invading force could ever have done in the history of the world. It just seems to be getting worse and worse all the time. I'm no doom and gloom guy, but I feel there is going to be a breaking point eventually, and it's not going to be pretty when we hit it.

    Yeah... look at the headline:
"Michigan government unleashes armed raids on small pig farmers, forces farmer to shoot all his own pigs"

I pictured armed officers standing over a guy forcing him to kill all his pigs... but in the article read: "In anticipation of the DNR arriving on the scene, one farmer engaged in what can only be described as a heart-wrenching task of shooting his own pigs, one by one, including baby piglets before the DNR arrived."

Seems a bit different than what was portrayed in the headline, no?
