Anybody done it? Any experiences, good or bad, if you have, that you want to share?

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2012 ... _fact_marx

I'm thinking about it for my next out of the way PJ tour, if it can work. My only stip would be the host might have to go to the show with me on my spare 10C ticket and if I host during a show in my neck of the woods, they better be PJ fans willing to go.

Any thoughts?

Peace.

i've slept on more couches and floors than i care to remember.. i don't mind it

it takes getting used to though. waking up in a strange place with strangers around..

i say give it a try.. if you don't like it, don't do it anymore

I did it for about a year when I was in my early 20s. I traveled around the country organizing protests like the WTO in Seattle and what not. For the most part it was great, but it can get tiring. One suggestion- BYOB- Bring Your Own Bedding.

-if you are talking touring, it's totally a fun way to go. I have hosted a number of couch surfers along the way, and in turn have made great friends, great touring buddies, and have countless options for couch surfing of my own. If you need a break, you can always get a hotel. Or, like Conman said, if you don't like it, don't do it anymore.

    Surf's up, Brah.

  • No. I did have a friend who got really wasted one night.
He entered someone's home thinking it was his.
In the morning the home owner found him sleeping on the couch.
    He was arrested.

Thanks for the info. I think i'm going to check it out as soon as another, hopefully, US tour is announced. If it bombs, off to the hotel. I appreciate your surfer speak. Have you read The Wave by Susan Casey? Has a Eddie Vedder/Pearl Jam mention in it. Its all about huge, rogue waves and the surfers who surf them. From the dynamics of a wave to the history of the huge ones that have been documented to the surfers who chase them to try and ride them. Absolutely fascinating. That's where I recognized "brah" from. If you haven't read it, pick it up. I think you might enjoy it. The only surfing I do, might be Couch surfing.

    Peace.

The Wave is one of my favortie books! I couldn't put it down. Her other book, The Devils Teeth, is all about the great white sharks around the Farallon Islands, off the coast of San Francisco. It is equally good, but without the surfer speak. Although it is full of research nerd on unpopulated island speak. :D
