Nail polish hazards

Just wanted to pass this on to the ladies (or guys too....no judgement here lol). I checked my polishes and all are fine except one, which has one of the bad ingredients...and of course it's the one I'm wearing right now. BOOOOO

    Hey very interesting post Chiqui! :) very worrying too though. I only wear OPI and they apparently are in the clear thank goodness. Really bad that they claim something they don't deliver though. :x thanks for the heads up. ;)

    Loulou yup my polishes are either Essie or OPI and they're both safe. The one I splurged on by Nars of course is the naughty one :evil:

    You know - this has me wondering about my daughters polish - she buys whatever is the "in" thing.

    I buy Opi and I will try Essie as well.

    Always kind of wondered about nail polish. It smells like turpentine, so can't be too healthy. My step-daughter is quite the finger/toe nail artist. I hope she isn't hurting herself with all those chemicals, including the remover. I'm guessing proper ventilation would not be a bad idea.

    Very true, guys get mani/pedis too! Although the ones I know don't get any polish but still!

    :? Not good.My toenails are painted all the time but the salon I go to only use Essie polish,but I have a vast range of different brands that I use myself at home for my fingernails.

    RCKCNDY I know what you mean, the polish I have on I absolutely love, and it's not a shade you can easily find in other brands :(

    Yep that is my routine/timescale too.Base is essential to stop staining.
    My toes are a 1940's glam glossy red at the moment :D:clap: but I don't know how to upload a pic :oops:

    Yeah me too, only way to make it stay on for a while. I have OPI Gone Gonzo on mine. It's like blue and silver glittery polish.

    as LouLou and stargirl have said, it does take time.

    My friend went to the salon and was bragging, "I got a pedi for $15!" we were camping, and after floating in the river for the day she was pissed "My toes are chipped! I just got them done yesterday!" Then she looks at my perfect toes, "when did you paint yours? How come they aren't chipped?!?!"
    I told her "Two weeks ago, I do it myself"

    I can get about 3 weeks wear when I paint them.

    I heard about the polish hazards as I was in line at McDonald's drive thru yesterday. I thought that manicurists are in danger from being exposed to it so much.
