How great is this album!
Its been in heavy rotation for me for quite some time now, cant get enough of it.
"Where Did You Sleep Last Night" is unreal, I think it makes my playlists a few times a month.

    Anyone know why they picked so many songs that were not originals?

    Dunno if it's ever been addressed by the members, but I'd guess the loud/quiet/loud trademark of theirs would be hard to pull off. Also, choosing the songs they did would fit with their anti-commercial image better than goin on their and acoustically churning out their hits.

    MTV unplugged is usually an opportunity to "step outside the box" and play some covers, and such. I think Nirvana was really looking to do something different, when MTV approached them about the idea. There is documentary and explination footage on the dvd version of unplugged in the extras.

    I think the unplugged was done really well and enjoy it. I really wish they had thrown some bleach, and incesticde songs in the set though (Maybe like a song or two from those albums).

    Hearing this for the 1st time was like
    reading fan fiction about
    a favourite literary character.
    Songs like 'Pennyroyal Tea' + 'Polly'...
    ... they shifted into something beyond the originals.
    I hope I can pick this up on vinyl someday;
    an album that can easily be listened to from end to end.
    Cheers.

    This is one of my all-time favorite albums.

    Same here, and I am not a big fan of Nirvana's studio albums.

    Kurt Cobain is backing vocal on the original from Mark Lanegan's album "The Winding Sheet". Is there anyone Mark has not worked with? The man is a living legend!

    IMO, Nirvana's unplugged is the best of the series. Kurt really shined in that performance. I love the Pearl Jam, AIC and STP performances as well... they just aren't as good as Nirvana's.
