So we sit down to go over the unfinalized numbers for the month and it looks like this will be this store's best June ever. WOnderful. Wasn't hard. We had a new product introduced and some good customer incentives, great month in wholesale, used was great because of the shortage...blah blah blah. He then dismisses the used car manager and the Mesa thing comes up. :fp: He asked me what my plans were and at that point I'm just going to be honest. In my head this may just be the kick in the ass I need to just get it over with instead of just droning day after day. I tell him that I'm considering a move to Phoenix and that was the message he heard last week.
This is where it got weird. He totally goes into this preacher mode of how he understands I lost my father last year and I went through a bad breakup but I shouldn't run from my problems but face them head on. :? What fucking problems?? Yeah I get depressed sometimes especially on weekends but looking to move and start over I really don't consider a problem. At this point I'm really uncomfortable talking to him about this. I think he's only been there 5 or six months and I don't like him and I'm pretty sure he knows that. He asks me point blank if I plan on leaving. Beacuse of his "heartfelt" talk I lost the heart to just come right out and say yes so I tell him I'm still in the considering stages and testing my options. He tells me that I'm important to his team and he then offers me a raise. Then it clicks with me...and this is in no way trying to sound snobbish or however it sounds. If I left, he would be lost. I pretty much do the paperwork that is essential to be submitted to our main office since he took the job. He can't do the monthly financial sheets, he can't order new cars, etc. He has absolutely zero idea how to do it. I used to do it for the former GM and when he was replaced I just kept doing it for this guy. If I left he would now be exposed. The raise was just a move to help him, not me or the store. For now I guess I'll just take the extra money (I'm sure he told the powers to be or will tell them that I asked for it to stay) and continue with my plans. It will be an interesting next few weeks to see how much of his job he's going to try and learn from me how to do. Something tells me as soon as he figures that out, I'll be out the door. I will offer zero assistance and may actually just stop doing his work and see how that works for him.

raise is always good.....now be the good employee and keep recruiting calls away from the office.
in my expierience, they don't offer you a raise to chuck you the next month.
and if and when you go to PHX for an interview.....
don't tell him you are going to PHX. you have a family reunion in NYC...you have a bachelor party in florida.... you have anything but a reason to go to PHX.

You don't know the car business. As soon as I walked out of the office my clock was ticking. I've been on both sides of these conversations and I know. In about a week the rumors will start and I'd be surprised if I make it the rest of the month. I truly believe I was only given the raise to try and ensure I stick around while he learns his shit.

Wow. Well that went much better than you anticipated, no? Enjoy the raise while you have it and keep looking in Phoenix. Glad to hear no one was hurt today

... and the Neighborhood Margarita Crawl tonight. The "Mexican" restaurant in my hood just re-opened after a year long remodel. It's even tackier than fuck, and they still have the tequila heavy margarita machine. Plus its Taco Tuesday at the brewery down the street. Then the local to close it out. Surfers and tequila. Not a problem.

 I know...I'm so over work already, today. Hooky day sounds so much better.
Haha my productivity level = 20% at best today. I will be productive at drinking later though!
