In citing the Libertarian principle of economic liberty, Jones stated “They’ve taken their despicable ideology and used it a wrecking ball, that they have painted red, white and blue, to smash down every good thing in America.”
Jones continued, “They say they’re Patriots but they hate everybody in America who looks like us. They say they love America but they hate the people, the brown folk, the gays, the lesbians, the people with piercings, ya know ya’ll.”
”They love going to New York City! [sarcastically] I just had to take my child to see America’s beauty.” Jones then referenced the Statue of Liberty and fumed ”You can’t be an anti-immigrant bigot and a Patriot at the same time.”
does he have any idea what a libertarian is? I mean at all?
anyone know more about this event, or have a full transcript of his speech. I want to make sure this wasn't taken out of context but am having trouble finding anything.

that’s right! Can’t we all just get together and focus on our real enemies: monogamous gays and stem cells… - Ned Flanders

"Libertarian" is just a bad word for any real partisan. To a Republican, it means "Democrat." To a Democrat, it means "Republican." Van Jones is clearly one of those people. Rick Santorum is too. The one thing they have in common on the surface? They sure don't like libertarians... I'm sure the more they talked the more they would be surprised at how much they agree with each other in many areas. hmmmm :?
It's sad, really. Imagine the most hateful person in the world-- the most bigoted, racist, homophobic, anti-immigrant, etc... Give them the right to use force on whoever they want, directly or at the hired hand of government, and imagine the damage that one person can do... Imagine the laws that they could create to keep whoever they wanted down? What if they just acted out their hate themselves?
Now take the same person and make them a principled libertarian. They hate may still be there, they may get physically ill at the mere sight of someone different than them-- but what would they do to stop anyone from doing anything they wanted to do, so long as that action did no physical harm to anyone else? The answer: NOTHING. All libertarians want is the freedom from force and coercion, and the freedom of voluntary action and association. All libertarians adopt the same code, but perhaps for different reasons: The reasons may be selfish and pragmatic, or "Karmic" (what goes around comes around), or completely humanitarian and compassionate. But that code is pretty much "live and let live." The most abhorrent, self-serving, yet principled libertarian realizes that by endorsing using force against others, no matter how much that person wishes to rid the world of behavior he or she doesn't like, means that same force can be used against him/herself to his/her detriment, and would much rather have the option to NOT associate with, or subsidize entire groups of people, companies, policies, or ideas with which they disagree.0 -

Yeah, he had to resign as Special Advisor to Green Jobs because the system is absolutely non-progressive and anti-environment. A former civil rights activist, he's made incredible advances for Green jobs in California and education for expanding the green industry. Of course he has a reason to speak out towards anyone against progress! And that would be all Libs and Republicans.0 -

Hmmm... lets see... I stand up for Civil Rights, I don't care how you dress or whatever piercings or tattoos you have, I stand up for Gay rights... I have no problems with immigration, it's good for our country.
I'm a Libertarian...0 -

i read his words and it reminded me more of the tea party brand of libertarian than the serious real libertarians that i know and that i interact with on here.
thats just how i interpret his words, but without proper context or the entire text of what he said, everything is just speculation..."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."0
