Really? Boise 2000 is quite often mentioned as one of the best shows from that tour, at least in my experience.

Hmm. I don't doubt you, but dating back to the tour itself it always seemed to me like Seattle II, Jones Beach II, Virginia Beach, Chicago, Montreal, and Mansfield II were the shows that were always at the forefront of people's conversations about the tour. Perhaps it's just a matter of the crowd I ran with at the time...

Later on they resurrected the Portland show but we opted to go to Boise anyways since it fell between the portland/seattle shows. I'm glad we did. It was one of the best PJ shows I've ever seen. The band was into it, the crowd was insane. When we were at the 2nd seattle show a few nights later. It really felt like they were trying recapture the magic of the Boise crowd, but couldn't quite get there.

Huh...you always read about Seattle II 2000 being one of the handful of greatest Pearl Jam shows ever (dating back to the days before everyone seemed to have a chip on their shoulder about needing to convince everyone that whatever show they attended was the greatest ever), but I have never heard Boise 2000 mentioned. I don't doubt you, especially since your attendance record speaks for itself. Kinda reminds me of when everyone was wetting themselves about Chicago 98, and later New York II 98, and there were a handful of people who had attended both of those shows (and more) suggesting Minneapolis 98 was just as good, if not better, than every other night on that tour. I like hearing little opinions/nuggets like that...great shows that seem to have been forgotten in the course of Pearl Jam's live history having been rewritten over the years by people who weren't there in the first place.
If you're going to talk about great 1998 shows that some might have looked past... look no further than the St. Louis show! Amazing show! Went to both Alpine, Chicago, Kansas City and Indianapolis and St. Louis was the best!
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

The 2006 tour wasn't too shabby. The N.A. part of the tour wasn't as big as '03, but it touched both europe and Australia. I think the '06 tour was overall bigger than '03 unless you live in N.A.? :)

It does make we wonder if we'll ever see big 70+ plus show tours again? They used to be small compared to other bands, but now they seem big for PJ.

Anyways this thread has me spinning LO2L right now. Great live album!

I concur with Coco Butter. I just listened to the St. Louis ’98 boot for the first time this weekend and it is excellent.

first pj show i ever saw was buffalo '03. the best concert i've ever been to. i listened to boots from all three, but i've gotta go with 2003 even if it sounds a bit biased. check out that setlist from buffalo. AMAZING!

Buffalo is one of my favorite boots from 03

1998-- better crowds, better bootlegs, the best show posters, better 10Club ticketing, etc.

that's back when PJ shows were "events" i guess. that was a fun summer.

The "Ten" tour was the best. Just kidding. 1998 because Yield was the showcase.

1998 was just plain fun. it was the first time pj really toured since they became huge. I just rmemeber each show being amazing. 2000 was kind of a downer because of denmark; you could feel the band held back a bit. 2003 was just angry. house of blues in orlando was probably the most aggressive i've ever seen the band.

    so for me: 1998 > 2003 > 2000
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

    Nothing beats the 98 tour.

From the perspective of being at the show itself and the energy and emotion that was felt, 2000 for me - Las Vegas 10th anniversary show was simply a magical experience.

But other than the '00 shows I went to, I do listen to '98 era boots more than '00 or '03 boots. I just like the way they sound and enjoy how the songs were played a tad more than the other tours. :)

2003 was great. The inclusion of the bootlegs and downloads really had me vested in all of the shows.

Honestly, I enjoyed the tours before 2006...back when they announced everything at once instead of the sporadic listings.

    Amen to that.

1998 are the shows I always come back to. I enjoy the albums from the 2000s but IMO the first 5 albums give you a perfect setlist mix.

The crowds were 10x better as well. PJ hadn't played a lot of these major cities since 92 or 93 so you had a lot of excitement. You had the build up of following the Australian setlists while waiting for the summer to arrive. It was fun.

2000 Tour was too dark like someone said. 2003 was a little better but too Can't Keep and Bushleaguer for me if that makes sense.

For me the 94,95,96 & 98 tours were best. I've never seen them live, but this is what I can tell from the tapes. Each song was played at just the right tempo. I would love to see what Matt could have done during the Vs. tour!
