Any love for these guys.

I have always been a fan but hadn't listened to them for a while, back on them in a major way over the past few weeks.

Never really been a "go to" band for me. As you said, I may listen a little then I stay away for a few months. When I do listen, I'll say to myself "damn, this is good stuff". I'm going to listen to Stop Making Sense right now :D
    I've met Rob

    DEGENERATE FUK

    This place is dead

"THERE ARE NO CLIQUES, ONLY THOSE WHO DON'T JOIN THE FUN" - Empty circa 2015

    "Kfsbho&$thncds" - F Me In the Brain - circa 2015
  • They are awesome!! Lots of love. PJ owes a bit to them (among other influences). David Byrne is a genius. Some of the stuff he came up with was pure magic. (Of course the rest of the band now think he's a douche, but isn't that what genius does sometimes?)

77 is one of the greatest albums of all time, and their live Stop Making Sense is a must have in the live library.

My favorite quote of Byrne's comes from the liner notes of SMS - goes something like - Words are just a way of tricking people into listening to the music longer.

That always stuck with me. Especially since he has some great lyrics.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

So glad this thread is here. I love Talking Heads.

Been listening to "Speaking In Tongues" quite a bit lately, and "Fear Of Music" is a really solid record and one of my favorites.

David Byrne is one unique character, and a really creative dude... it seeps right into Talking Heads.

We were lucky to see David Byrne in concert a few years back, his energy is off the charts
a most amazing show... especially in a small venue up close and personal.

It is a cherished memory :D

Great, great act. He had this whole weird, funny, choreographed ballet-type dance going.

I've been listening to This Must Be The Place a lot recently. Such a sad and uplifting song.

I saw him solo many years ago.He was simply amazing, bustin' all these dance moves.Where Beck plagiarised his dancing from? David Byrne :D

first time i saw stop making sense was it's release to theaters in the mid 1980's. vhs tapes had barely been discovered so this was the only way to see this movie

it was the first(only?) time i ever attended a film screening where people got up out of their seats and danced up at the front of the cinema while the film played. that is something i will never forget

had been a fan for a few years before then. never saw them live and today it's one of the bands that i really should have seen when they blew into town in the 1980's...but didn't

stop making sense remains one of the best live shows ever filmed. jonathan demme is a creative genius for the concept and of course kudos to david byrne for being the perfect balance of freaky vs cool

was a fan of their other releases but stop making sense always stood miles above the rest. it is/was perfection
