Sell my Benny Hall vinyl??

Believe it or not, I got this for FREE (don't hate me) from someone who had no clue. I also had no clue how valuable it was at the time...

Pros:
I can buy the guitar I want without going into debt

Cons:
It could be worth even more eventually
I feel bad taking that much money from an obsessive collector
No more listening to it (though I haven't listened since finding out how valuable it is)
No more bragging rights!

I'm guaranteed to have more and more expenses and shit I want to buy, and I'm also guaranteed to never get another free Benny Hall. I'm way more interested in listening to music and playing music than I am collecting rare and precious things. In fact, as far as the guitar I want... what I really want is a 1950's Gibson ES 125 (approx. 1500.00) but I can buy I real nice brand new imitation of the exact same guitar for around 500.

    that's a tough choice.....

maybe think about which one you'll play more (guitar or LP)...
i would take "$ value" out of the equation & make this decision more on emotional value.

a free Benny is always a good thing, but if that's your dream guitar.....i think if it were me, i'd go with the guitar.

    best of luck!
    Matt

ps--i don't own Benny Hall on vinyl & doubt that i ever will (unless they reissue it), so i'm not trying to butter you up to sell it to me...i promise.

I'm thinking if I sell the record, I should buy the Gibson. That way I'm losing something collectable, but gaining something as well. Otherwise I'm losing a "priceless" record and gaining a "good" guitar. The guitar will get played constantly, and the record would sit on the shelf.

This is the clearest statement you've made. It's clear that you want the guitar more than the record. Best of luck!

    - Probably not much more
I feel bad taking that much money from an obsessive collector
    - Don't
No more listening to it (though I haven't listened since finding out how valuable it is)
    - If you do keep it, spin it
    No more bragging rights!
    - You can brag about that Gibson, no?

Now my wheels are spinning. Maybe it's time to consider the rest of my PJ vinyl. I've been very lucky in this department. Some of this isn't even for sale on ebay so i have no idea of it's value. Any collectors out there feel like helping me get an honest idea of the value, I'd love the help. (I have NOT decided to sell anything yet, though) any thoughts?

All the records play fine, no scratches, etc.

    Christmas singles:
    1992- worn
    1994- worn
    2004- good
    2005-good
2007, Love reign or me- good
    2007-good
    2008-good
    2009- great
    2010- mint

    Albums, etc.:
    VS.- original pressing somewhat worn
    Vitalogy- original pressing somewhat worn
No Code- original pressing well worn with missing polaroids
    Benny- slightly worn/good
    Avocado- very good
    10 Legs- very good,mint
    Uke Songs- very good/mint
    Rearviewmirror- good

Since the Benny was given to you would you consider passing it on to me? LOL, I had to ask buddy, I hope you get your guitar. I'll help you find the best deal on it possible.
    Take care

I say sell the Benny for something that you'll get lots of use out off, the Gibson is beautiful!!

I will be interested in some of your vinyl if you decide to sell.
The thing I like most about time is that it's not real. It's all in the head. Sure, it's a useful trick to use if you want to meet someone at a specific place in the universe and have tea or coffee- but that's all it is- a trick. There is no such thing as the past. It exists only in the memory. There is no such thing as the future. It exists only in our imagination. If our watches were truly accurate, the only thing they would ever say is "Now". That's what time it is. It's "Now". - Damien Echols
