Now that I'm old enough to have disposable income of my own to spend on what ever I want(the kids are grown so to hell with them ) I want to start picking up some PJ collectables, but have no idea where to start, and I'm nrevous about getting ripped off....Do you folks have a goto web site or something that lists items with what prices should be?

I generally spend some time watching eBay listings to see what they go for, you just have to resist not bidding on them. At the end of the day, you pay what it's worth it to you. I normally have an upper limit for anything I want, and it's not always based on the market price.
Also good to pay attention to what people sell stuff here for. People often sell for less than on eBay (not always).

It depends on how much you want to spend, and how much you are willing to spend for a specific item, take into account what you like apart from music, there isn't a exact science, a how to, or a collector's guide... you can buy vinyl, garment, posters, books, etc., if you are ok with the cds and your ipod, there's no need for vinyl, but you can buy a few for reasonable prices here, or somewhere else, if you like things being colourful and your house to be well decorated, there are lots of colourful posters still available here... regarding tees, they don't necessarily have to be from here, if you like the tee, buy it... but in the end, it is completely up to you, based on what you like and what would work for you...

I emailed the seller, as I see he's in Lethbridge, and he says he'll do local pickup… You're closer than me, so it might be worth it to go check it out…
LOL! Lucky! Mine are 3, 9 and 15 and I am 43!

Best. Advice. EVER.
After telling a buddy of mine about some recent purchases I made, he asked me if I had my paycheck directly deposited to Pearl Jam. I laughed at first, but then ... hey ... not a bad idea ... :?
Best advice I have, which others here have said, is take your time. Figure out what you want and go for it. I find it helps to stick to what means something to you personally rather than go whole-hog. Like, I only get posters and whatnot of shows I actually attended.
It is very much like an addiction, though ... so be careful and always use protection! :P

Stay far away.
Good Luck - but BEWARE - PJ Collecting is VERY addictive! It becomes an obsession very quickly!
Welcome to the 'Club'!
What sort of items are you in the market for? Even with all the disposable income in the world you'd want to narrow your parameters so you get the most bang for your buck, regardless of the item and cost. You might have your eye on something rare that's reasonably priced but if you have your heart set on displaying it but aren't able to (as an example) your regret will diminish the item's appeal. Or perhaps you're after some rare and very expensive items that are currently overvalued, in which case you're better off waiting several months or even several weeks (in some cases that's all it takes) for prices to come back down.
First and foremost: ask yourself where you want to start? Setlists? Posters? Vinyl? Signed memorabilia? Guitar picks? Etc. There are PLENTY of respected collectors, traders, and sellers both here and elsewhere that you can be put in contact with or that can contact you once you narrow down your "must haves". This saves everyone involved both time and effort as (personally speaking) you can honestly invest your heart and soul into a deal and when it doesn't transpire you're left annoyed that you've wasted your time.
Good luck and feel free to ask as many questions as you'd like.

Welcome to the madness!!!
Well here @ the Lost Dogs forum is your first stop for PJ goodies sold by fans for fans. The 10club store is great. So is Amazon. eBay is too but be sure to read all the info & details before pulling that trigger to buy. If you got questions on any PJ goodies, just email 10club and they will help you out or even post your questions here on a certain item. Keep an eye out on Santos L. Halper's posts over @ the Porch. If there's a way to get email notifications when he starts threads on PJ goodies go up for sale, try to get on that notice, stat!!
All the best!!

If I saw a 1996 EV Guitar, I'd probably pass even if I could afford it comfortably. It means nothing to me; however, others would kill for such an item for some other reason. The flip is the KC poster; it's not my favorite image, but the concert was special to me, so I value the poster more than others.
If you think you're investing... Well, good luck.

4 Golden rules of PJ collecting.
Rule #1 Only collect things you like. If you buy something and the value goes down, it won't matter.
Rule #2 Try and get the stuff yourself, it has much more meaning and you will never, ever part with it.
Rule #3 Research expensive stuff, there are fakes out there.
Rule #4 Have fun and don't go overboard.
Rule #5 Re-read Rules 1-4
