god dammit!! What's with all the negative feedback we are giving each other? So what if the person next to you wasn't rockin out as hard as you? People enjoy things differently!

I got my tix thru TenClub, but i also camped out to get my bro tix as he was away with the army when they went on sale. He was ecstatic when i surprised him with it...then 2 weeks before the concert, he was sent away again and missed out!!

So come on guys, quit whinging about the person infront, behind or beside you and just be thankful YOU were there!!
And now my biggest challenge - a thing called LOVE
Well i guess i'm not as tough as i thought i was -

Who wants to fight temptation?....That's no fun...

Well said. Sorry to hear that your brother missed out. I went to Sydney 1 and am so excited to be going again on Saturday night.

  • Thank you - Well said! Aren't we supposed to be loving the band not hating each other?????

I'm sure Ed and the boys wouldn't be pleased with this negative vibe. And please don't put words in their mouths, you have no idea what thier thoughts were about the crowd. They looked to be loving it to me.

Bring on Melbourne 3, lets make this one full of great things to say :)

  • It's the Pearl Jam Fam way, we feel the need to prove that we are a bigger fan than any1 else. It's not just Oz, remember in the US tour all the whinges about the statues in the front row???

I apologise if anything I've said has sounded like I'm having a go, but I've been on about crowd participation for ages. And you know what? I honestly think that by standing on my chair and getting people to clap and cheer, I was able to get a lot more people pysched up at Melbourne 1 and 2 that otherwise would've felt too self-conscious.

Hey, you're free to act how you like at a concert, but I really think that because the band loves a great crowd, we should give them a great reception. You could see how much it meant to them on Tuesday night. So no one's really bitching.. we just want to get everyone to enjoy themselves!

I've been complaining about the crowd too... for me it was more out of frustration for myself. I get that some people enjoy to sit down and chillout, and to be able to hear the vocals and music instead of hearing the crowd sing (hell, i get annoyed when ed makes us sing.. i paid to hear him sing, not a bunch of audience members what a rip off ;) but for me, i think, that could have been me sitting in the front row, and i would have been dancing and cheering etc instead of not... So i get jealous and angry at them sitting, and seeming to not enjoy themselves (although of course they are) when i could be there dancing and singing and clapping and all the rest... I'm just bitter! (extra big smiley)

I think some of it is just the result of the typical Aussie rivalry that we all share. My show was better than your show....Maroons vs the Blues....Melbourne vs Adelaide etc etc.

But then there are the people who had their experience screwed up because no on around them would get into it and they were forced to sit down or whatever. I'd be friggin pissed too!

But I think some of it is just said in fun.

  • what matters is your connection with the band. If you sing and dance to every song. thats great. If you only know the words to daughter and betterman than thats cool too. At least you went
Syd 1 was a great show because I sang and danced with my favourite band. Im sure the show you went to was the best.
Im seeing them in newcastle this weekend, even if its not their greatest show im sure its the one I will always talk about, simply because I helped ( by signing the petition ) to get them to come to my home town.
The only people who have a right to whinge about others is those who were made to sit down by lazy crowds. ED and the boys want us to dance
    SO LETS DANCE

    Hi everyone!
I heard one of the Sydney boots and I have to say that the audience doesn't sound as if they're not participating.
On the other hand it seems understandable that the band had a bit of a shock after Europe where a seated concert looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVxmHX12meM&mode=related&search=

But I guess that's precisely the beauty of touring the world - you see different crowds, different ways of appreciating music - and that's all good! So, enjoy the rest of the shows! :)

i stand dance and sing every word to every song

anyone doesn't like it,,, TOO FUCKING BAD !!!

people tried to make me sit down in the balcony in san fran/... i told the security" this is G A i paid money,,i'll do as i please"
  • Exactly....

Everyone enjoys concerts to their own ends, and displays that enjoyment in their own ways....

I have to admit, I've pretty disappointed to see the negative feedback in relation to the melb 1 show... I mean, I did see it, I saw Eddie and Mike at times looking a bit frustrated and having to try hard to get everyone into the show and the experience..

But for myself, it was the best I have seen Pearl Jam in five shows (one in 95, three in 2003, one in 2006), just a combination of the set list, but as well as the performance.. the boys just really seem to be on.. I went with a mate and his wife, and we were all just totally blown away by the whole show, and it wasn't the first time for seeing them for any of us...

I apologise to anyone offended for not standing and rocking out for the entire show, but I was asked to sit down about three quarters the way through during the main set by people sitting behind me.. but I am 6'6"... so I guess the question is, would you prefer some tall bastard to stand in front of you and block your view of the band, or for them to show courtesy to others and sit down so they can see?

I love your guys convinction to pearl jam, but perhaps think outside the square at times before you judge to criticise a crowd...

I can't understand people not moving during a rock concert..but as long as they don't stop ME doing so, that's their problem.

Luckily Europe shows are GA (I always go for the standing area)...but no-one better ever try to make me sit down...it's not going to happen..if you want to sit down, go to the opera..or accept you will hear but not see.
