I think one thing that's getting lost in this is that PJ playing a weekend at Alpine Valley needn't be PJ playing a festival weekend at Alpine Valley.

Or even, this term PJ21 could just be someone's joke about returning to the scene of PJ20 weekend.

They played regular concerts at Alpine Valley before PJ20 weekend. No reason to think they couldn't play regular concerts there after it.

On the upside, if they don't bring 12 hours of music to AV each day the tailgating scene is so much more to behold.

    .

Couldn't have said it better myself. Not sure where everyone got that this would be another PJ20-type fest. In fact, I hope it's just regular shows as part of a tour.

I agree with this in triplicate. ;) No festival, just part of a larger US tour. They have played Alpine before PJ20 you know...

Not year-to-year. The association is inevitable, festival or not, given the location and that the rumored date is Labor Day like PJ20 was. I am all for US shows, but this seems a bit risky given how temperamental PJ fans can be (every third thread is OMFG thing/event/sale XXXXX was so unfair to me!).

+1 But rooms nearby are scarse.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

Just curious about the awkward statement. Having never been to the Gorge, is it any easier to get there for people flying in for the show than Alpine is? I would definitely like to experience a show at the Gorge but it seems from looking at maps that it is quite a drive from either Seattle or Spokane.

Wisconsin was awkward but people thought it was just that one time so they went. Now, it's just an impractical location without a special occasion. :?

I got molested by TSA in Wisconsin, apparently I was 'suspicious'...yes, that was awkward.

The Gorge is about 3 hours from Seattle, but there are campgrounds and other cities with hotels nearby (same distance as hotels in relation to Alpine). Oh, and the Gorge has way better parking and parking staff, I've never been in such a clusterfuck after a show!
Oh, and average precipitation for the Gorge in August-September is 0.33"-0.44", average temps of 62-85.

Anyway...tailgating pals have already reserved rooms. I'll have to save some money, but I agree...if they do it again this year, it just won't be the same, most of the people who went last year that came from overseas probably won't go this year. Not saying it won't be fun...it just won't hold the same meaning.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

You are right about that parking lot. I've been going to shows there since it opened and it is always a CF trying to get out. Thanks for the info about the Gorge. I'm ready for some more PJ shows anywhere in the US!
    Be kind whenever possible.
    It is always possible.
  • Maybe they can finally do a Members Only show :D and then..give us all flight discounts..

Yeah, that would be nice. Because that's the only way I'd be able to go this year.

Dang it. I was hoping for the Gorge.
