fact.
here in iowa my buddy's son is taking gun shooting as a credited course. he is 13 years old and in junior high.
i do not know all the details as i haven't had a chance to ask and listen. anyone know anything about this?

shoot some targets, get some credits.

and by the way. my buddy did not say it was hunters safety course. it is not that to my knowledge. it is just shooting targets and getting some credits to help graduate.

I got credit in PE for archery in middle school. Shooting is an element of an Olympic sport right? I got credit for making monkey bread in home Econ too
    Don't see an issue.

We did square dancing in high school PE.

I took a bowling class in college.

    I got credit for those.

Agree with most of the sentiments here.

I too got school credit for archery, cooking, wood shop, metal shop, etc. - learning skills.

This, to me, is no different.

I think this is a good thing.. I am positive firearm safety and responsibility would also be taught.. and that is a great thing!!

I was stunned that this was Iowa.. Taget practice sounds like a course the Boston public schools would offer ;)

I recall square dancing but I think it was just in elementary school. By the time I was in high school we had advanced to more hip and current styles such as the jitterbug and the twist. .... :(

I also got a credit in college for bowling.
