Put the economic recovery on hold, folks! There are more pressing and important issues that face our nation ... like the integrity of the NFL!

Thank you Sen. Dick Durbin for having the courage to avoid petty issues like jobs, balancing the budget, and corruption on Wall Street to focus on what America really cares about .... football.

... what a dick.

    gotta be a politician!

both sides do this shit from time to time. It's win / win for them usually, but we will see if the public turns on them this time. Congress must have been so happy with the MLB steroid issue came up because they could focus on that instead of explaining where the WMD's went to.

I like the Lewis Black quote:

The only thing dumber than a Democrat or a Republican is when those pricks work together. You see, in our two-party system, the Democrats are the party of no ideas and the Republicans are the party of bad ideas. It usually goes something like this. A Republican will stand up in Congress and say, "I've got a really bad idea." And a Democrat will immediately jump to his feet and declare, "And I can make it shittier."

i have an idea, why don't we waste MORE time on things that are not going to help the people and are not going to create jobs and are not going to solve any of the issues facing this country...

why is this even being considered? can't the league police themselves???

Well he already tackled the serious problem of chewing tobacco in MLB dugouts so the next logical step was to pick a higher-profile controversy in a different sport and hold a hearing about it so he can act indignant about something that's already been addressed. Sadly, I think this will mean the cancellation of his plan to call Gaylord Perry to testify before Congress about spitballs.
