Johnny Depp has teamed up with his rocker pal Marilyn Manson to record a cover of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain."
Depp offered his services for the collaboration, playing drums and lead guitar, while Manson provided vocals for the tune. The song will appear as a bonus track on Manson's upcoming album, "Born Villain," and Depp's 9-year-old son, Jack, was also reportedly on hand in the studio to help out.
Manson tells MTV News, "(We wanted to do) a cover of a song which we thought was ironic for each other. ... He played drums and lead guitar, and I played guitar and sang. It's a bonus track on my new record, and the video will probably be us looking at each other in a mirror."
It's not the first time Depp's rock credentials have gone down on record. He contributed guitar to Oasis' 1997 album "Be Here Now."

i guess i genetically predisposed to like anything that comes from Depp's mouth
besides he does good work
and i find MM intriguing
and his videos are monumental
i think he butchered annie lennox
but i think they can only improve you're so vain
"what a long, strange trip it's been"
Who's vain?
Is MM still going to be doing the Satanist I'm so evil schtick? That was so 1990s and will be met with a collective yawn today.
Johnny Depp: I think he's a fine actor, but even though Keith Richards jams with his band from time to time, I'm not really interested in his music. Seems like most actors think they are musicians, and while Johnny has a lot more musician cred than say Bruce Willis or somebody like that, I still find myself not really caring about his off-screen activities.
Marilyn Manson: I loved Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals, but I never really got into him beyond that. I've heard some of his earlier stuff and some of his later stuff, and none of it ever moved me to the point of buying another album. My MM discography consists of those 2 albums, and will probably stay that way.
So while it's certainly an interesting combo, I'm not really on the edge of my seat. If the source material were a little better I might be more interested, but I hate You're So Vain. So I don't find myself excited about it from that angle either. And a music video of Johnny Depp and Marilyn Manson looking at each other in the mirror doesn't do much for me either.
It might be really good, but on paper it doesn't really interest me. We'll just have to see I guess.
Antichrist Superstar is the best album by far - a lot of that thanks to Trent Reznor's work on it.
Portrait of an American Family is the second best, followed by Smells Like Children for me.
