Part I
I cracked the shell
and believe me,
it was painful
our dreams do not depend
on our past to thrive
our dreams are our own,
and will flourish of their own accord
I patiently await calmer seas
the coastline gone,
much like old friends
I left them standing in the wake
drowning and trying desperately to pull us down
this undertow of grief is no longer for me
tonight we sail for bluer skies
this tragedy that has unfolded itself around us
will not be our own
we have created our own world,
our own kingdom of love
where you will be Queen,
and I will follow your word,…
LOVE
in cotton filled skies
the angels guide our vessel
through damaged waters
man’s greatest gift to the Earth,
arrogance, vanity,
and bile…
too, we leave this behind
creature comforts fill voids created by greed
no more will we depend on you
nothing now matters outside of her love….
a treasure, divine
internal compass spins out of control with a touch
North is now South, East exchanged for West,
we sail on
our waters crystal blue with caps of pearl
guided by a greater purpose,
fear no longer breathes
fear no longer visits
love has conquered fear,
and left it bleeding
as I knew it would
hope has crippled the shadow bird,
and strangled doubt
light has penetrated darkness,
and laid waste to the sinister
quiet are the demons who have haunted our dreams,
belittled our joys,
and dampened our spirits
our future awaits,
on distant shores
lush green valley’s filled with sunflowers,
jasmine and lilies
the hills roll, and weave
the songbirds sing,
oh, you would not believe the music that echoes through the trees!
waterfalls fill lakes so blue they don’t seem real…
animals thought wild feed from your hand..
the sky, a magnificent painting of which you’ve never seen…
the forests sing of life, the beaches incite love,
and the sunsets the most brilliant shade of orange, pink and red your eyes will ever see!
the day breathes joy,
the nights inspire dreams
in the soft light of the moon,
I will trace letters of love on your bare skin
I will caress the smooth flesh of your thighs
our hearts will beat in time,
to the waves outside our window
our love will know no bounds,
nor will it ever cease to satisfy
the journey will be long,
the Sirens song will be deceivingly beautiful
we will stay our course,
we will journey more
we will find what we are looking for
our love,… our love,
will set us free.
Part II
so what led us here,…
this place, this palace of dreams,
our kingdom of solitude?
one might suggest we were shunning our brethren.
one might even imply misanthropy.
oh dear reader,
I must have you believe otherwise.
we fled for our lives!
we fled for the our LOVE of mankind!
we fled for the FUTURE of all man!
no longer could we believe in what had become of our kind.
no longer could we believe in the dream of better days.
no longer could we trust nor believe in our leaders.
the nightly cast of devastation brought on by man itself,
the manifestation of hatred and violence that would permeate our brains.
the holocaust of civility that would imbed itself in our very souls…..
this my friends is why we fled.
there must be something greater than this!
hatred had brought us here,
but love would show us the way.
love would take us to where we always should have been.
we set out to create our new world.
her and I together, armed only with love.
I know what you are thinking,
and I must confess I find it hard to blame you,
and yes, it brings a smile to my lips.
we wanted our very own garden of Eden.
a modern day Adam and Eve.
to you, I know how this must seem,
but you should see what we had done here!
for a time, days came and went in the key of joy.
for a time the Sun rose, and with it came peace.
gone were the days of being slaves to another man’s clock.
gone were the nights filled with mistrust, for there were no doors to lock!
words like greed, selfishness, money and murder.
and others like violence, betrayal, and enemy were erased from our vocabulary.
for many moons our society thrived,
a world created with love had been born and flourished.
these were the best days of my life.
for all but myself, and my dearest…. this was the only way of life ever known.
this was our “Golden Age of Love”.
one beautiful evening as the Sun dipped into the sea,
a child of no more than 7 pointed out towards the line where sea meets sky.
for 3 sets of sails appeared on the horizon.
his eyes grew with excitement.
and mine,
mine shed a tear.
I cracked the shell

it was painful

Thanks so much.
I was weary of posting it here, its..... long.
So i dont expect many commetns at all. Half of the book tells this story, i guess i just needed to test the waters, because one poem taking up half the book kinda scares me. :?Post edited by the wolf onPeace, Love.

The writing is very good, who cares how long?
You could tell its good after the first stanza
It seems very inspired, so to say,0 -
thank you. as always, you're too kind.
i've always wanted to write a long form story poem.
Arthur Rimbaud's "A Season In Hell" is a huge inspirtation to me.
Also, real life crap right now, as always has inspired the actual story itself.Peace, Love.

I'll have to check him/that out.
your poem is a story of great hope for sure, one would never guess "real life crap" was the inspiriation.
(sorry ~ I cracked myself up there) I know what you mean, though

the real life crap has made me want to take this person, and run away from everyone.
a dream, fantasy piece for sure.Peace, Love.
