Yeah I'm having similar problems... I'm on a PC (getting a mac in a couple of weeks though) and Windows Media Player opens it, but nothing happens after that. The thread that had the link to the .asf (Megaupload) had a few others complaining that it wouldn't open, and someone suggested they download a free player (gave the link). I've been trying to find that thread, but haven't had any luck.

I'm on a PC too. I downloaded VLC player in order for it to play.

glad i'm not the only one.....i can't even get it to edit on premiere....:(
  • there's a couple of programs out there that will convert and .asf to an .avi file.
It's really all about changing the wrapper, if anyone knows what that means.
.asf is the older MSoft version of .avi, so they are very similar..
You might be able to get away with copying the file, changing the .asf extension to .avi, then trying to import into you fave video editing/encoding software.
I've done that with video files before with decent luck.

I'm on the road right now or I'd take a crack at it.

I also had trouble with playback of the asf. file on Windows Media. After a little trial and error, I found that it plays kind of OK in winamp, (not great but it plays) but I can watch it perfectly with my NERO showtime dvd software.

I think I've also figured out how to convert it to WMV with a program I have called Riverpast. I'm gonna let it run tonight....

    Hope that helps.
  • Everyone who downloads and watches video from the web should use VLC Media Player.
It's clean, efficient, and plays anything.
    Plus it respects your privacy.

I avoid using Windows Media Player because it big, clunky, invasive, and it doesn't play everything because MSoft wants to sell you plug-ins for various codecs.
