I have received my free digital bootleg from my analog membership, but need some help. I have sadly been out of touch with the current shows. I'm hoping that the forum can help give some suggestions.
Thanks
Ryan

Boston 2010. Probably the best show of the tour along with MSG II 2010.

    Other notable shows:

    Chicago I 09
    Any Philly show from 09
    Berlin 09
    Bonarroo 08
    Toronto I 2011
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

    9/29/04 Boston, 6/28/08 Mansfield, 8/23/09 Chicago, 5/15/10 Hartford
    5/17/10 Boston, 10/15/13 Worcester, 10/16/13 Worcester, 10/25/13 Hartford
    8/5/16 Fenway, 8/7/16 Fenway
EV Solo: 6/16/11 Boston, 6/18/11 Hartford,
  • They are all good. :D

Let's switch this around. I am looking for the worse boot ever. Not sound quality. Any Kufala boot. Which set was so bad you will not buy nor listen to? :P :P :P

Seems like these threads pop up every other week, but I love them anyway :D What boot to download is largely based on what year you prefer and setlist, if you have a preference at all. If not, I recommend downloading one of the new 2011 boots because of the sound quality. They are mixed extremely well and all members are audible at good levels. I would say they are the best sounding bootlegs since 2003, and they can rival both the 2000 and 2003 tours sound wise. The 2008, 2009, and 2010 boots I can not say the same for. Especially the 2008 boots, they are mixed pretty rough, and they sound way too bassy and muddy. The 2009 and 2010 boots sound quite a bit better than 08, but not as good as 2011. That being said, I have listened to 14 of the 2011 boots almost entirely. Out of those 14, I can safely say that Lima is the best of the bunch. The setlist may not be the most exciting, but setlist alone doesn't make a show great. The performance is absolutely rock solid. It has to be the tightest, most error free show from the tour. Toronto 1, Vancouver, and Porto Alegre are also very tight performance wise, and have above average setlists (in my opinion). Winnipeg is a very solid show that took me by surprise. The setlist was my least favorite out of the Canadian tour, but the show was actually really good.

On the other hand, I found Montreal and Toronto 2 to be quite disappointing from a bootleg standpoint because of how many mistakes are made. A couple flub ups are usual, but those two shows are just filled with screw ups.

Out of the 14 2011 boots I have listened to this is my ranking from best to average, no PJ show is bad ;) Based mostly on performance and flow of the show, more so than whether the set is filled with rarities.
    Lima
    Toronto 1
    Vancouver
    Porto Alegre
    Calgary
    Ottawa
    Winnipeg
    Curitiba
Buenos Aires...................These 4 SA shows are about equal to me and hard to rank.
    Sao Paulo 2
    Rio

    Hamilton
    Toronto 2
    Montreal

If you have any questions about 2008, 2009, or 2010 feel free to ask. Hope that helps some and wasn't too long.

Since sound quality is not an issue, I would have said the Lima 2011 set. That was until I saw the praise it received for the band's great performance. Now it's one of my favorite boots, go figure.

  • Man I love the fuck ups. I almost can appreciate a tight night vs a night of flubs as much. They all seem to mean something. The 11 CA tour over the SA tour was a big difference. BA was insane. Lima very good.

To each their own. Bottom line is we are loving this band. Art is art. Everything is open to interpretation. Just like some like a poster and others do not. Some look for a tight performance. Some love when EV has 2-3 bottles of vino and is mumbling stumbling. Not red gatorade. I personally love the early shit. I love them a little fucked up EV hanging on wires shit. That to me was the JAMMING!

It all good man. It all good. Turn it up! :P

The one thing that those loose nights have going for them is usually energy. The energy factor tends to be very high on shows that come off sloppy. Philly 4 2009 or Toronto 2 2011 for example. I love collecting boots and giving them all a good listen. I tend to go for the tighter shows over those with more flubs, but like you said, they can be massively enjoyable in their own way as well.
