I was reading another forum (blasphemy! I know) and I found this:

I've heard many people who have both complain about the quality of the 4xLP on here and generally black is the way to go for quality and durability with vinyl, everything else (picture discs, certain colors, glow in the dark etc.) is more of a collectors piece or novelty item, especially in this case. its still an awesome thing and will sound decent

I'm a collector but I don't have any idea if that is a fact or another conspiracy theory on the internet.

Comments and thoughts are appreciated it :ugeek:

From what I recall reading a while back, I think that there may be less carbon in colored vinyl than in black, and supposedly, it will lead to the record wearing out faster than regular black vinyl records. Fact? Dunno. I cannot say that I listen to any 1 colored vinyl record enough to have any firm factual knowledge. I can say that I have listened to several of my colored records, and have not noticed any difference in quality.

I couldn't say one way or another for fact, but every piece of colored wax I have sounds good as all hell. Especially the NAIS UK 7"... ;) And footsteps on the clear Jeremy is perfect. Also didn't hear much of a difference between black and white BS either...my opinion.

Also the whole added effect of placing something so pretty and seeing it spin on my turntable does something to my insides...

From what I've read online, colored vinyl is generally fine with some reporting equal to better sound quality. Picture disks, on the other hand, typically don't fair so well with issues ranging from pops and static to skips and even background hums. This is generally attributed to the thin amount of vinyl used in order to maintain the quality of the picture itself. I think this is true in some instances but not all. Mind you, this is just based on what I've read online.

Can't say I've noticed any sound differences, however anyone who wants to trade me any color vinyl editions or glow-in-the-dark editions of anything (PJ20) I would be happy to trade you for my "superior" sounding black vinyl editions. Let me know ;)
