    I am with you, OP!
IMHO each day could be someone's last; we should cherish each experience we can have. And if it isn't worth it to you, then feel free to exit this fan club (not haters club) and the Faithful can all move up a number.
Don't rip off my head by saying "oh, so now I'm not allowed to voice my displeasure???" I am saying that if people get THAT worked up, maybe this is not for you.

When I saw Eddie tour announced, immediately put in for London or Manchester, didn't even look at prices... Been dying to see Ed solo for years now, cost of tix/flights was never gonna be an issue... But hey thats just me... :)

That's a load of me bollix, tbh. There is no value on being a 'true' fan. The world is fucked, and Eddie & co seemed to have missed that memo.

    +1

I'm a 'true fan' of Jimmy Choo shoes, but I am not willing to pay 'whatever' to own a pair so I can wear them for a few hours at a function.

    True fan...

When theres bills to pay, mouths to feed etc it's hard to justify the expense ..

It cost me £100 for two pearl jam tickers and will cost £150 for the train ... thats right the Train costs 3x more than the gig. This is the only problem for me, I don't suddenly hate my favourite band

It' s just the reality of travel and hotels thats going to be the killer.. & it's about the money, in the sense that no one has any at the moment and it's knowing you'll have to make other sacrifices in order to go to a gig. For me it means using my bike more and selling some things on ebay. When your responsible for a family it has wider an impact on more people... Even true fans sometime put thier children first and are not willing to fork out a grand on a personal holiday.

Me, i just think I've spent more money on pointless items in the past that bring me no closer to Pearl Jam. like a dress i bought for a freaking wedding, what a waste of cash. Maybe I'll wear it to the gig and get some use out of the thing.. .. rambling now, Im ill in bed smiley-sick010.gif have been Quarentined by my family... Think i might enter the lotto today for ev today. It does feel a bit greedy but.. i'm ill I need cheering up... See I'm awful with money don't listen to me.

I think we have to go and hear Ed sing whenever he shows up!
I wouldn't want to be someone who missed hearing him when I could have gone.
I think he's worth more than whatever the tickets cost.

Well, maybe they're a true fan of the Wanted. Who are you to judge? ;)

As for the topic of this thread: Yes, sometimes (more often than not) it is about the money. I'm not seeing Pearl Jam in Europe this time (unless a miracle happens), not to mention Eddie - the money just isn't there, no matter how much I'd want to go. Does it make me less of a fan because I'm not willing to sell my kidney to see a band? Fuck no.

agreed! But my point is, you cant compare Eddie to The wanted, totally different genres, The Wanted arent even World wide famous, they went to America and people didnt know who they were! So dont thin Eddie's prices are high if you think of it that way!! ;)

Any why would one want to compare the two? But if you're looking for chart toppers and 'famous', The Wanted have their a single from their latest album 4th in the charts in the US (more than 555.000 copies sold). They may have stormed the US recently, but they 'stormed'. On the other hand, Eddie's singles from the Uke album haven't charted at all. Lots of people in Europe (and a lot of younger people in the US/Canada/Australia don't know who Eddie is either. It made me google but I noticed that this band are doing an arena tour later this year and dates are sold out (plus additional dates had to be added). Could Eddie command this?

So really, not a reference. You may not like The Wanted but there is no need to diminish another band's 'accomplishments' to uplift your favourite artists worth.

You (and others on this board) may be OK with gig prices, You (and others on this board) may think Ed is god and one must see him whatever the cost may be but one has to be real and also realise that Eddie is no biggie really for a lot of people. He is for us lot.

And I'm not saying this in any disparaging way or anything - just being real. Also, I understand that quantity doesn't mean quality and that a band's/singer's achievement in the charts/ticket sales/pulling power doesn't mean it's better because they 'do more'. Just a reflection of current trends.
  • If I can afford it, I will go see Eddie sing whenever the opportunity arises. :D

He and his music are such a blessing in my life, I wouldn't want to miss seeing him, no matter what the cost.

I think the OP needs to open their eyes and understand that some people aren't just going to throw money at whatever turns up.

Gig ticket prices are a disgrace these days and I have had enough of it.

My wife and I have paid £200+ for tickets to both Manchester shows (plus we've got to pay for transport and a hotel room) and we don't want to spend out another load of money on this too.

OP, I think you need to wise up and realise that others have a perspective that differs from your oh-so simplistic one.

  • I agree that there is no need for regrets. All I can say is that I am so grateful for Eddie's solo concerts and so happy for having the opportunity to attend! I became a PJ fan very late in the game (2010 Bridge), and the fact that PJ are touring and Eddie is touring bring me more joy than I ever could have imagined! :D
