Where you at? There must be some out there? I saw a girl at the weekend wearing a Goo tee-shirt and she must have been 15 maybe. Most people I know can't stand them but they're one of my top bands and they can be pretty amazing live. Just listening to Washing Machine at work and it really takes you somewhere else for a little while......

I wanted to listen to Sonic Nurse half an hour ago, but it's apparently not on my iPod. I quite enjoy Sonic Youth.

    Sonic Nurse

I love this album. That's how I discovered them back in 2004-2005.

    Dig 'em a fair amount.

I saw a Thurston solo show a few weeks ago and he absolutely killed it. 5 piece band: 2 acoustics, violin, harp, and drums. And yes, the delved into Sonic Youth-esque feedback/tension jams.

Agreed. Seen them several times live. They are always good.

I saw them once in a live setting, and that was with someone that didn't "get" them, so I didn't have as good a time as I should have.

Absolutely fantastic album! I realized about 5 or 6 years ago I had to retire some seriously played albums in order to be able to still appreciate them as I got older. Daydream Nation, Goo and Dirty were on the list and I'm giving them all some love this week. They are one of the few bands around where their artistic output is as good in their current period as their past. NYC Ghosts & Flowers, Murray Street, Sonic Nurse, Rather Ripped and The Eternal are absolute gems that I enjoy more now than when they were released. Nice to see they have fans here, I remember in 2000 when they supported PJ on some of the Binaural shows a lot of people complained about them which was strange for me as that is something of a dream lineup.

My ex had rather ripped and I didn't dig it much but after the eternal came out I really got Into their stuff and saw them live...hooked after that. Teenage riot off daydream has to be one of the best album openers ever

Saw them play al of Daydream Nation years ago, was cool.

Here! Met them once, Seen them 4 times, (3 times in 4 days, even!) Goo was the first SY album I bought; Took me a long time to get into it, but when I did, I listened to it non stop for months.I hope they don't break up because of Thurston/Kim, but it's probably inevitable.. :(

And never seen them live, missed seeing them twice because I was not aware they were touring grrrr.

Daydream Nation, Goo, Dirty, and Washing Machine, brilliant albums.

I'm a big fan. I've seen them about a dozen times dating back to August 7, 1990. I met Lee at Lollapalooza '95. He's a nice guy.
My favorite SY album is Daydream Nation.

+1 I saw their Daydream Nation tour a few years ago as well. 2008 or 9 perhaps? I think it was 20 years since Daydream Nation or something. Fabulous album! :Love Washing Machine too. Friends of mine played support for them on an NZ & US tour in about 96. That was very cool.

Great taste man, I love the newer material too. Sonic Nurse is an incredible listen. Murray Street was my top Sunday afternoon album throughout most of the 00's.. :D

Well I was supposed to see them at ACL 2009, (the day PJ played), but Lee had broken his wrist. The tour was made up, except for that one cause it was part of a festival. Bummer I didn't get to see them play.

Yes , I love sonic youth, I've got washing machine on my ipod and can't stop listening to diamond sea, just takes you somewhere else. Recently went to an outdoor market and found a record stall and found the album dirty which is great, sugar kane etc. One of the greatest bands of our era, no comprimise just truly a great band.

My flatmates at the time supported SY in the WM tour in NZ & USA. That was a wild & fun year. I still have my vinyl for sure.

Nice Morello, which band was that, and what SY vinyl do you have?
