I really like what I have heard from this band. Saw them open for MMJ back in December, and thought both bands were excellent.
I saw the same tour - love these guys. New album drops today!!!

That's right. The best ROCK album of the year belongs to Delta Spirit. I loved their last album "History From Below, but in my opinion it tended to drag toward the end. This is not the case with their third and self-titled album. There seems to be a re-newed urgency to this album and quite frankly it has a much harder sound with a sonic edge. At first, it's kind of jarring... in a good way. In a way that makes you wants to turn it up. There are many standouts on this album: Tear It Up, California, Idaho, Otherside and Money Saves. Hell, they are all great tracks. This album could possibly propel them to a much wider audience. Do yourself a favor and buy this record. See them live if you can and before they get huge. They are exciting to see.

I really hope that I like it. And I havent read any official music reviews but everyone over on the MMJ forums says it's terribly over-produced.

Real good band, I'm digging the new album. They just had this cool "bar crawl/album premiere" in Brooklyn two weeks ago. Basically went from bar to bar playing tracks off the new album and then they capped it off with a show at this tiny venue, Public Assembly. Pretty awesome day.
"This is about as perfect a crowd as you can get. I hate to placate, I ain't placating...." - EV, 9/29/96
I saw them play on Later... with Jools Holland last Friday, we watch the show on HBO Plus Latin America with an average of 6 to 12 months of delay... yes, they are amazing...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

after listening to this album and the new shins album i'm thinking both bands should get together and do a world tour. we could call it the 'mediocrity tour'.
well that's just how i feel about listening to these recent outputs.
but seriously, i would actually go to the mediocrity tour. i bet it would be an incredible show. as much as i don't care for the new albums, i really do like both bands.
