Yellow Ledbetter - demo?

Ok so I am pretty well versed in PJ demos and rarities and stuff like that. But I went to import a bootleg into iTunes that I have had on cd for several years, and on it were a bunch of bonus/filler tracks. I know what all of them are except for a Yellow Ledbetter demo that sort of threw me for a loop. I don't recall seeing anything about a demo of this song. Of course it probably went in one ear and out the other at some point, but does anyone have any information about the demo? Is this a rarity that made the rounds years ago? I can't for the life of me figure out how I would have missed this...but there it is. I love little finds like this!

Any info?

I got this as part of "First week rehearsal demos 10/23/90" ...Ive had it a long time..not even sure where I acquired it. :?

Edit..researching found this on a website.
"From October 8 through October 23, 1990 the group worked on their first demo tape. Taking the moniker Mookie Blaylock from a basketball trading card found in the demo tape package, the newly formed band performed their first live show on October 22 at Seattle's Off Ramp Cafe.
So what are all of these tapes? Eddie made several copies of the demo DAT (also known as the First Week Rehearsal demo) onto old R&B tapes and gave gave them to friends. While it's possible Mookie Blaylock recorded more than one demo tape, only the First Week Rehearsal demo has been verified."

Not sure if this is what you want..but I found it interesting. :)

  • The YL demo surfaced at some point 97-99, I received it on a cassette via a trade on the old Usenet board. It included the YL demo and the "full" version of Goat (a lot of other boots included Goat, but it was snipped a bit). I'd have to dig the tape out, but I seem to remember a short jam on the tape as well.

I'm not positive when it was recorded, but the sound of it makes me think it wasn't the first week rehearsals, but more the recording in either January 91 or March/April 91 based simply on my ears and how the drums sound. I believe Goat was during the first week.

Funny...Goat was one of the other filler tracks.

I can't remember what Goat sounds like. Is it any good? It's not Evil Little Goat is it?

Guessing this is the one you are talking about:

    Pearl Jam
    "Eddie Vedder in Seattle 10/13/90"

    Source: SBD > DAT > ANA (>3?) > WAV > CDR > EAC > WAV > FLAC

    ***** DO NOT ENCODE TO MP3! *****

    01 Improv (early Yellow Ledbetter)
02 Quick Jams (Weird A - early Animal)
    03 Goat

    Notes:
I received a cassette copy of this on a B&P or trade back in 1998 from
someone who posted in the alt.music.pearl-jam newsgroup. I took the guy
up on the offer and got a cassette with these three songs on it. Now, they
have been in circulation for a while, and I think the circulating copies are
of better quality, but I am sharing these anyways because these came from the
10/13/90 tape and it has the complete version of Goat on it.

I've had these for a while, but it wasn't until I read this story that it
jogged my memory of me actually having this tape. I tried hiss reduction on
the songs with no avail, and the fades are the same ones I included back when
I recorded this on the pre-natal version of SoundForge back in 1998.
