Big fan of his. THAT VOICE! I like how his sound and voice harkens back to the 1960's, not really the hippie part, but more the songs that were on the radio. Otis Redding. Van Morrison.

And he's such an underrated lyricists. Posted about Sam Beam earlier in the week. And both Ray and Sam are two of the best lyricists of our generation. The lyrics to Empty for example are pretty damn mindblowing. Or Jolene.

Facinating guy as well. He's shy and private, and just seems to dislike playing the game. Another parallel with Sam Beam is that Ray lives the life you'd expect him to live. On some farm house with his wife and kids, I know at some point, the farmhouse didnt even have electricity or something like that. Seems pretty uncomfortable with the fact he is gaining some amount of stature and status

I really like Ray but I can't listen to a whole album at once. I usually sprinkle some of his tracks in a playlist.

+1, saw him in September and he was beyond amazing!! Just like the OP said, THAT VOICE. It's remarkable. Beautiful, haunting voice combined with his lyrics makes for some damn incredible music!

I love me some Ray, I saw him at the LIG festival and he did not disappoint. I think that kid from AI that has Dave's mannerisms sounds more like Ray, which is not a bad thing.
